Frieren Season 3 Release Date Announced – Everything We Know So Far

The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End finished airing today, leaving many fans disappointed. While Season 2 was very popular, its 10 episodes felt brief. Now, everyone is looking forward to Season 3, but unfortunately, it won’t arrive until 2027. Fans eager to continue following Frieren and her companions will need to be patient, but a third season has been officially confirmed.

Frieren Season 3 Announced For October 2027

Now that the latest season has finished, fans are eagerly awaiting news about Frieren Season 3. Shortly after Season 2 ended, it was announced that Season 3 is officially coming in October 2027. Because the Frieren anime has been such a well-made adaptation, the studio decided to take their time and ensure the new season is high quality, rather than rushing it out in 2026.

The delay in releasing Frieren Season 3 until October 2027 is intentional and beneficial. It gives the manga’s creators time to get further ahead in their story, as the anime is quickly catching up. The manga has had several breaks, so the gap between the anime and manga was shrinking. This timeframe allows the animation team to create a high-quality adaptation while also letting the manga author continue writing. While fans will have to wait a year and a half – slightly less than the wait for Season 2 – this period is ideal for building excitement for the next installment.

Frieren Season 3 Will Adapt The Golden Land Arc and Other Arcs

The tenth and final episode of Frieren Season 2 premiered today, March 27, 2026, bringing this part of Frieren’s story to a close. While most anime seasons have 12-13 episodes, Frieren’s second season only had 10. Many fans were disappointed by the shorter season, especially after waiting over two years for new episodes. Despite the length, the season successfully adapted two significant story arcs: Continued Northern Travels and Divine Revolt, and also began adapting the Golden Land Arc. The majority of the Golden Land Arc will be shown in Season 3, which is scheduled to air next year.

The Golden Land Arc hasn’t been adapted yet, and it’s uncertain how much of the story Season 3 will cover. It’s possible the season will finish the remaining arcs from the manga – Goddess’s Monument, Imperial Territory Travels, and Foundation Festival – potentially allowing the anime to catch up to the manga’s current progress. However, this depends on the number of episodes produced and whether the manga resumes after its break. If Season 3 is similar in length to Season 2, we can expect around two full arcs to be adapted.

Assessing The Global Popularity Of The Series

Frieren has quickly become a standout anime series of the 2020s. The first season remains incredibly popular, still holding the top spot as the highest-rated anime on MyAnimeList even three years after its release. While the second season initially ranked very highly, a period of negative reviews caused its ranking to fall outside the top 10.

Beyond its high ratings, Frieren has become a hugely popular series this year, comparable to hits like Jujutsu Kaisen. The manga has seen a significant boost in sales thanks to the anime adaptation, even becoming one of the best-selling manga of 2026 without releasing a new volume that year. With a third season already announced, the anime’s popularity is set to grow, and anticipation will continue to build steadily over time.

All episodes of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
