From Season 3 Ending Explained

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that From has been one rollercoaster ride! The Season 3 finale was a wild twist of events, leaving me both puzzled and intrigued.

The following contains spoilers for From Season 3‘s Season Finale

Key Takeaways

  • The Season 3 finale of From tied up some loose ends but left more questions unanswered.
  • Fatima was not pregnant but birthing a smiling monster that was killed in Season 2.
  • Tabitha and Jade refused to sacrifice their children and are cursed to return to Fromville and forget.

As a devoted fan, I’ve got to say, From never fails to serve up mind-blowing action from one episode to the next for its MGM+ audience. The highlight of Season 3? The finale! While the season had been a whirlwind of questions, the finale did an excellent job of addressing at least some of those lingering mysteries.

In Fromville, neither the crowd nor its residents have any closer insights yet about their location, how they arrived here, or how to return home. However, some mysteries have been partially unveiled, such as why the nightly apparitions by the forest creatures occur, and why certain children persistently say “anghkooey.” Additionally, their origin and the reason for their peculiar appearance have been explained. The fact that only a few people can perceive them has also been addressed. Since this is Fromville, there are still numerous unanswered questions, but at least another season may provide more clarity.

What Happens In From Season 3?

In Season 3 of “From”, situations deteriorated significantly. In Seasons 1 and 2, a tense truce seemed to exist among the town’s inhabitants of the mysterious locale. Although life there was far from ideal, there was a sense that the rules of this unsettling nightmare land had been established and everyone and everything were adhering to them. Yet, some residents of Fromville continued to stir up trouble in an attempt to break free, which did not sit well with those who held power.

For the first time in a long while, the residents noticed a shift in the weather towards chillier temperatures. This was an unusual occurrence for many of them. Additionally, the creatures lurking around Fromville were no longer satisfied with just wandering out of the woods at night; they now lingered, biding their time until unsuspecting townspeople found themselves outside after sunset.

As a gamer, I found myself immersed in a chilling tale where events unfolded leading to some of Fromville’s residents meeting a grim end, including the tragic demise of Mrs. Chen, who was brutally murdered before my virtual eyes. During this harrowing ordeal, one of these monstrous entities made it clear they had taken up Boyd’s challenge from the previous season when he declared his unbreakable spirit. The remainder of the game seemed to revolve around a chilling objective: making Fromville an even scarier place to inhabit and relentlessly testing Boyd’s resolve, pushing him beyond any known limits.

In the process, Tabitha made her getaway from the town via the Faraway Tree. However, she wound up going back to the same place accompanied by a police officer and Victor’s father in an ambulance. Once they had arrived, tragedy struck as the ambulance crew was slain. Only Tabitha, Victor’s father, and the officer managed to survive.

The team behind the popular series ‘Lost’ also contributed to the production of ‘From,’ and their signature style is evident through a string of mysteries unfolding. Among these enigmas are questions like: what was happening with Fatima’s “baby,” why could only specific individuals (Fatima and Jade, primarily) perceive the anghkooey children, and who exactly was Elgin conversing with in the guise of the preserved-looking woman.

How From Season 3 Ended

From Season 3 Ending Explained

The climax of the final episode in the “From” season left many questions unanswered, but thankfully, the MGM+ series is set for another season. While some answers were given, new mysteries arose. It was revealed that Fatima wasn’t carrying a baby, but instead gave birth to the same grinning monster that was slain in Season 2. The townsfolk learned that these monsters were previously people who had sacrificed their children for eternal life. Remarkably, those very children kept appearing and saying anghkooey.

Due to a haunting melody played on the violin by Jade, both Tabitha and he managed to regain their lost memories. They discovered that when this ordeal began, they were the only parents who resisted sacrificing their children. As a result, they are condemned to keep returning to Fromville and forgetting about the events transpired there. Later on, Tabitha informs him that “anghkooey” translates to “remember” in an unspecified language.

In Fromville, Tabitha and Jim are each grappling privately with recent events. Suddenly, a man dressed in a grubby, old-fashioned yellow sports coat steps out of the forest under the bright sunlight. Moments before interacting with Jim, Julie darts into view, visibly upset after discovering she can traverse stories, or time travel. However, she’s unable to alter any events during her visits.

The immediate evidence of her inability to harness her new power becomes clear when she orders her father to flee, but instead Jim stands firm and confronts the man in yellow, driven by a desire to shield his injured daughter. Regrettably for Jim, the man in yellow appears reminiscent of the malevolent grinning creatures as he effortlessly dodges their attack, then seizes Jim by the neck, reprimanding him for allowing Tabitha to excavate the pit in the ground from Season 1. In a gruesome turn of events, the man in yellow then rips out Jim’s throat as Julie looks on, petrified with horror.

As a dedicated gamer engrossed in From’s Season 4, it’s evident that the gameplay has undergone a significant shift – the landscape is no longer familiar, and the rules seem to have been rewritten entirely.
