FromSoftware Job Listing Teases New Armored Core Game or DLC

Key Takeaways

  • New FromSoftware job listings hint at a possible new Armored Core project or DLC.
  • This is because the developer is seeking someone who has expertise in mecha design.
  • An earlier job listing from this year was also looking for to work with character and robot modeling.

As a lifelong fan of FromSoftware and the Armored Core series, this news has me jumping with joy! Ever since I first strapped into my AC-00 Alpha and felt the power of those giant robots beneath my fingers, I’ve been hooked. The thought that we might be getting a new installment or even DLC is enough to make my heart race faster than an Armored Core in overdrive!

Known game developer FromSoftware, best recognized for titles such as Elden Ring, has recently added various job opportunities to their careers website.

It appears that fresh ventures could include a potential revival of the Armored Core series, as suggested by PSU’s report (delivered via TopMob). The Japanese game developer might be working on this new project.

One job listing catches my attention. It’s for the position of a character designer, and what makes it stand out is that it explicitly mentions creating concept art for characters, creatures, and notably, mecha. This could be a significant clue since FromSoftware’s Armored Core series is well-known for focusing on large robots.

Based on the strong performance of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, it’s quite plausible to assume that they could be working on a new edition or perhaps additional content, such as Downloadable Content (DLC).

Reading through this job listing, the explicit requirement for “mecha design expertise” has my heart racing with anticipation, as it seems like we might be gearing up for an Armored Core venture!

The listing even states, “People with expertise in mecha design are welcome,” and emphasises the need to “understand the concept of the game and the role of the characters and mecha.”

Mecha Fans Have Reason to Rejoice

Although FromSoftware hasn’t explicitly disclosed their ongoing projects, we can eliminate some possibilities based on recent statements. CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki has clarified that neither a new Elden Ring nor Dark Souls game is currently under development.

Back in July, it was revealed that FromSoftware was also seeking a character modeler, with a focus on creating models and textures for characters or robots. This hints strongly at the possibility of a new project, perhaps a game or downloadable content, centered around mecha-themed elements.

It’s looking like fans of the Armored Core series might be eagerly awaiting some new mecha action, as there are strong indications that more is on the way, but we haven’t received official confirmation just yet.
