FromSoftware warns of potential “significant frame rate drops” in early Elden Ring Nightreign patch, especially for PC gamers “using the latest graphics cards”

Prior to the debut of Elden Ring Nightreign, Bandai Namco has unveiled the Elden Ring Nightreign 1.01 update notes (although the game isn’t launched yet). The patch doesn’t disclose much about the game, except for general terms like “Balance tweaks” and “Bug corrections.” However, it does include a chilling advisory for FromSoftware enthusiasts playing on PC.

The publishers have verified that certain PC setups with cutting-edge graphics cards might encounter frame rate decreases. In the interim, if you’re experiencing severe frame rate drops, you might be able to fix it by adjusting your graphics settings from ‘High’ to ‘Medium’ or ‘Low’, reducing your screen resolution, and installing the most recent drivers for your graphics card. Rest assured, we are actively looking into the cause of this issue.

2025 hasn’t been a great year for PC Ports, as games like Monster Hunter Worlds, Rise of the Ronin, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have had their issues. To make matters worse, Bandai Namco has already issued a warning about Nightreign, which isn’t filling me with confidence. I can only hope that it won’t be as problematic as the other releases this year.

Conversely, PC Gamer’s review of the game describes it as a “minimalistic console port with plenty of glitches,” but they also mention that the stuttering problem from the original Elden Ring PC release is significantly improved. Moreover, less powerful PC systems can run the game at an acceptable level, though some adjustments to the settings may be required.
