FromSoftware’s parent company let it slip that we’ll get Elden Ring Nightreign DLC by March at the latest

According to GamesRadar, Kadokawa, the company that owns FromSoftware, recently highlighted the strong sales of Elden Ring, its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, and the multiplayer game Nightreign in their quarterly earnings report on November 6th. Hidden within the report was a hint about when players can expect DLC for Nightreign.

According to page 16 of the report, FromSoftware is working on several new games. These include downloadable content for Elden Ring called Nightreign, expected in 2025, a special Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring called Tarnished Edition planned for 2026, and a completely new game, The Duskbloods, also slated for release in 2026.

Kadokawa’s records show their fiscal year runs until March 31st. This means their current fiscal year will end on March 31, 2026. Unless there are delays, we can expect to see significant, likely paid, downloadable content for Nightreign around that time.

The Steam page for Nightreign revealed that the update will include new playable characters and bosses. Considering this update is coming much faster than the recent Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and given Nightreign’s style of using existing assets, it’s likely FromSoftware will reuse character skins and bosses from previous games like Dark Souls.

I think adding weapons, enemies, and bosses from Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion to Nightreign would be a fantastic addition. It would be really fun to use the new weapon types like light greatswords, backhand blades, and great katanas, and a character class based on the Dryleaf martial artists would be a thrilling new way to play.

I’d really love to see more variety in the game’s maps – anything from new camps and different ways maps are created, to changing terrain and even a whole new map inspired by the Land of Shadows. And as a personal request, it would be amazing to have an Executor skin based on Sir Alonne from Dark Souls 2.

The report doesn’t reveal any major new projects from FromSoftware—though Duskbloods is in development, it’s a multiplayer game and initially will only be available on the Switch 2. We’re likely close to getting our first glimpse of their next big, single-player game. This could be a large expansion or sequel to Armored Core 6, similar to past entries like Silent Line, For Answer, and Verdict Day, or a teaser for a new Soulsborne game—perhaps Elden Ring 2, or something completely different. Hopefully, we’ll get news on both! A fan can always hope.
