As a dedicated Frostpunk fan since its chilling debut, I can hardly contain my excitement upon hearing the tantalizing news that modding might be making its way into Frostpunk 2! The mere prospect of adding dinosaurs, dragons, and other bizarre creatures to the already captivating world is enough to send shivers down my spine.

11-bit studios hinted at the possibility of modding support in Frostpunk 2, as suggested by an unexpected trailer they shared in their latest post today.

The brief preview showcases dinosaurs and peculiar elements amidst the harsh, realistic setting of Frostpunk 2, suggesting a possibility of custom content or mods in the game. Already, enthusiasts are guessing that these add-ons might be accessible right from the start.

11 Bit Studios has hinted at revealing more details about their upcoming announcement, which they plan to share by August 28, 2024. The information is expected to cover player expectations and possibly a release date or window.

Besides the sudden appearance of a T-Rex, fans were treated to a sight of a dragon flying above a metropolis and a procession of bizarre beasts too.

Currently, the Frostpunk 2 page on Steam provides no information regarding mods. However, it does hint at an unending Utopia Builder, a sandbox setting that appears to offer opportunities for creative exploration and experimentation.

One fan also spotted a connection to The Alters in today’s teaser trailer, and the devs responded via X. They teased that “let’s just say we have a lot in common,” hinting at possible game collaborations.

As a die-hard fan, I initially anticipated that Frostpunk 2 would hit the shelves in July last year. However, the wait has extended as 11 bit studios decided to postpone its release until September 20, 2024. The good news is, this strategic survival game will grace PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. To add more excitement, Game Pass subscribers can jump right into the action at launch!
