As a seasoned survivor of the Frostpunk universe, I can attest to the importance of maintaining a surplus of Goods in my city. The pot icon at the top of the screen is like a beacon guiding me through the icy wasteland, showing me the demand and output for this precious resource.
In the game Frostpunk 2, resources (Goods) play a crucial role. To prevent crime from escalating and maximize Heatstamps, it’s essential to maintain an excess of these resources. Maintaining a surplus isn’t challenging at low populations, but as your city grows, you’ll need to work harder to boost your Goods production. Thankfully, there are various strategies for increasing the amount of Goods in Frostpunk 2, and this guide will outline some effective approaches for players.
Users can swiftly check the present demand and supply of their City’s Goods by simply hovering their cursor over the pot symbol located at the top part of the screen.

Switch Industrial Districts to Goods Production
By design, Industrial Districts naturally generate Prefabs upon construction. However, for these districts to produce Goods instead, players will need to manually adjust the settings. To carry out this process, city-builder enthusiasts can easily select an existing Industrial District and then tap the icon that resembles a pot on the left side of the information panel that pops up. Although players might not feel compelled to immediately change all their Industrial Districts to Goods production, especially if they’re fulfilling all Prefab demands, it’s essential to designate some for this purpose.
Build More Industrial Districts
Enhancing your cityscape with additional Industrial Zones significantly boosts your resource generation, since each new one automatically increases the Goods yield by 25 units. To ensure these freshly constructed Industrial Zones produce the desired goods, strategy game enthusiasts should adjust their settings to prioritize Goods production.
Expand Industrial Districts
In Frostpunk 2, players can boost the initial production of Goods in an Industrial District from 25 to 30 by enlarging the district onto three adjoining tiles. To do this, simply click on an Industrial District, find the arrows icon at the bottom of the information panel that appears, and expand the district accordingly.
Build Factories in Industrial Districts
In this game, players can build factories once they’ve researched specific nodes within the Resources section of the Idea Tree. These factories boost the production of goods when placed in an Industrial District. To be more precise, the Factories node encompasses ideas to establish Salvaging Factories and Mechanical Factories, while the Goods Factory node provides ideas for Refurbishing Goods Factories and Calibrated Goods Factories. Placing any of these factories in an Industrial District will enhance its overall goods output, ensuring a surplus is maintained.
It’s important to point out that the mentioned factories can still produce goods, even when the industrial districts where they are located are set for prefabrication. This means that these industrial districts have the ability to manufacture both goods and prefabs at the same time. For instance, an industrial district that is configured for prefab production but also houses a Calibrated Goods Factory will produce 10 prefabs per week (the industrial district’s standard rate) and 60 goods (the output of the Calibrated Goods Factory).
In the game of Frostpunk 2, constructing factories is a crucial aspect, but it’s essential to be aware that this action comes with its own set of challenges. Primarily, factories tend to boost heat demand within your city, and they can also trigger an increase in either disease or squalor levels. However, fear not! There are numerous strategies available to manage and mitigate these city-wide issues effectively.
Increase Production Efficiency
In this game, players have the opportunity to amass extra resources of all kinds, such as goods, by enhancing their Production Efficiency. Here are various methods to boost Production Efficiency. To observe how it influences an Industrial District’s Goods production, simply pick the district, move your cursor over the pot icon under “Total Output” in the info panel that appears, and look for “Base Modifiers” section:
- Pass the Goods: “Mass-Produced Goods” Law. This Law can be found under Resources in the Survival section. Alternatively, players can pass the “Durable Goods” Law to decrease the demand for Goods.
- Pass the Basic Necessities: “Paid Essentials” Law. This Law can be found under Welfare in the City section.
- Research Heat Overclocking in the “Waste Heat Conversion” node. This node can be found at the top of Idea Tree’s Resources section.
- Research an idea in the “Rail Hub” node, and build a Rail Hub next to a Goods-producing Industrial District. This node can be found at the top of the Idea Tree’s Hubs section.
- Select a Goods-producing Industrial District and activate its “Emergency Shifts” ability.
