Frostpunk 2 Tips and Tricks for New Stewards

Frostpunk 2 Tips and Tricks for New Stewards

As a seasoned survivor of the Frostland, I can confidently say that Frostpunk 2 is not for the faint-hearted. This game will test your wits, your patience, and your resolve to keep your people alive amidst the harsh, unforgiving environment.

As a gamer diving into Frostpunk 2, let me be upfront: this game is tough! Succeeding isn’t a walk in the park, not even during the prologue. To stand a chance, you either need to have some Frostpunk 2 strategies under your belt or grind through the same scenario multiple times. Personally, I’d rather have the advantage of good tips! Here are a few to help you shine as the Steward destined for greatness!

Frostpunk 2 Tips to Keep in Mind

As the relentless ice approaches, internal strife arises, and food scarcity looms large, your endurance and determination will be put to the ultimate test in Frostpunk 2. Sooner or later, another Whiteout will hit, leaving you wondering – have you made enough preparations to endure the harsh winter? Here are some handy tips for your role as the new leader of New London in Frostpunk 2!

Stockpile Food for Whiteouts

It’s advisable to accumulate as much food as ethically feasible before another Whiteout event happens. The tutorial enlightens you about the risks associated with the Whiteout, but it delves deeper into the entire campaign by incorporating this event as a key gameplay feature. Initially, you start with a limited number of Wanderers that add difficulty to learning the core mechanics, but this setup makes it easier for beginners. However, your first settlement—New London—is expansive and has a thriving population that’s constantly growing. You’ll continuously attract new residents, all of whom need food, in addition to those already living there.

Building more Food Districts can greatly enhance your chances of survival, but be cautious not to stretch yourself too thin. Remember, you’ll need the right workforce and resources to effectively construct these districts. I’m suggesting that while prioritizing Food and Coal is crucial, don’t neglect other essential aspects of your city’s infrastructure in Frostpunk 2. It’s as much about maintaining balance as it is about sheer survival.

Strategically Place Your Districts

When setting up one of your districts, consider adopting a strategic approach. Observe in the screenshot provided that this region of the map contains three Material deposits. During the planning stage of an Extraction District, I positioned it to encompass all three with just one district. This strategy maximizes resource output and prevents unnecessary use of construction materials like Materials or Prefabs, as building multiple districts serving the same purpose can be wasteful.

As a Steward, your task is to preserve resources and acquire additional materials to enhance what remains of our society, avoiding unnecessary expenditure of time and energy in over-expansion.

Don’t Be Afraid to Negotiate in the Council

Frostpunk 2 Tips and Tricks for New Stewards

In your role as Steward, the rules you set are not inflexible decrees, but rather established laws. From time to time, you might come across a proposed law that seems advantageous for the entire community, yet not all members of the Council share this view. It may be necessary to persuade others to see things your way. Remember, negotiation is not something to fear; it offers you the opportunity to garner support for a particular law, making it easier for it to pass while also promising additional benefits that could potentially be addressed in the future.

Any negotiation involves finding a balance. Sometimes, it might seem that certain conditions to convince one party are unjust or not ideal for the agreement as a whole, but they may be necessary evils. For example, to implement quarantine measures for ill workers, I had to negotiate with Londoners and offer enhancements to the Central District. This would lead to the construction of Prefabs. In this scenario, it’s beneficial for both parties!

Build Trails to Major Resource Nodes

Frostpunk 2 Tips and Tricks for New Stewards

Once you set off on your expedition through the Frostland with the Frostland Teams from Logistics District, you’ll undoubtedly come across vast reserves of resources. In my game, I came across an Abandoned Mine teeming with hundreds of thousands of Coal, perfect for fueling my Generator in New London for extended periods. However, simply discovering this point of interest doesn’t mean it automatically connects to my settlement. To transport the resources from one place (the mine) to another (New London), you need to construct a transportation route or trail.

Building a trail certainly takes up valuable time, resources, and manpower from the Frostland Teams, yet it’s an investment that pays off significantly. With these resources at our disposal, our people will not have to endure prolonged periods of cold for quite some time!

As we delve deeper into the game, we’ll keep expanding this guide with more strategies and hidden gems specifically for Frostpunk 2!
