As a long-time CS2 fan and someone who has followed the careers of these prodigious players, I must say that this news about G2 Esports retaining m0NESY is nothing short of exhilarating! The prospect of seeing him continue his exceptional play under the G2 banner, with the potential for Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa to step into a larger role, has me on the edge of my seat.
It’s expected that G2 Esports will retain star CS:GO player Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, known for his exceptional AWP skills, during the upcoming roster changes. Since Team Falcons has already secured Nikola “NiKo” Kovač to join them in 2025, they will need to seek other talented players instead.
At the beginning of 2025, these unconfirmed changes are expected to cause a significant transformation within the CS2 sphere.
G2 lock down m0NESY
For quite some time, the exceptional 19-year-old sniper has been in high demand by Saudi Arabian teams. Since he enjoys teaming up with NiKo, it was thought that m0NESY might leave along with him. According to HLTV, there were rumors that “m0NESY” contemplated accepting an offer from the Falcons to join their squad as part of a significant roster change.
Following Niko’s reported transfer fee of $1 to $1.2 million, it’s likely that monesy would garner an even greater price from the Falcons. His exceptional performance in the 2024 season earned him recognition among the top players worldwide. With monesy committed to G2 until the end of 2025, the team has chosen to reject the Falcons’ offer and retain his services. The strategy for G2 in 2025 is to make monesy the central figure in their roster, although they run the risk of losing him as a free agent after 2025.
For team G2, it’s encouraging that Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa could fill the star player role previously held by NiKo who has left. At the Perfect World Shanghai Major, malbsMd demonstrated a standout performance, and if he assumes a larger role with m0NESY still on board, the offseason becomes less intimidating for team G2.
Falcons often find themselves unsuccessful when chasing top-tier players, such as last year’s failed attempt to sign NiKo from G2. With the termination of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyljev’s loan from NAVI in November, the team will now need to seek alternative options for their AWPer position.
