Okay, so I just heard this and it’s amazing! Gabe Newell, the guy behind Valve and basically a god in the gaming world, just got himself a new yacht. But it’s not just any yacht – it’s totally custom, and get this… it has FIFTEEN gaming stations built right in! Seriously, fifteen! I’m putting money on at least one of them being set up with a Steam Machine. Can you imagine gaming on the open sea like that? Incredible!
This impressive 360-foot yacht can handle a wide range of activities, from luxury hospitality to serious scientific research. It features a dedicated science lab and dive center, and cost an estimated $375 to $530 million to build, demonstrating that its owner is doing very well financially.
Valve on the Open Seas
Gabe Newell, the unique founder of Valve, is now worth over $10 billion. He prefers to live on yachts, and his newest one, called ‘Leviathan’, is just the latest in a series of luxurious boats he owns.
This yacht ranks as the 50th largest globally and was specifically designed to meet Newell’s exact preferences. In a recent statement, Newell enthusiastically praised the finished product.
It’s been a pleasure working with the team at Oceanco – they’re professional, creative, and full of energy. They were incredibly welcoming to our unique requests. Together, we’ve designed a truly special yacht that highlights Oceanco’s innovative spirit and design expertise, and they’ve been fantastic partners in refining our approach along the way.
There’s also the possibility it was a massive tax avoidance scheme, considering Gabe Newell owns Oceanco, the shipyard responsible for building the Leviathan – though that’s probably just speculation.
The Leviathan is an incredibly luxurious yacht boasting features like a submarine garage, over a dozen high-end gaming PCs, racing simulators, a basketball court, and even a fully-equipped hospital. It has countless bedrooms, kitchens, and comfortable spaces for relaxation. In fact, the yacht’s promotional materials suggest it’s the most comfortable yacht ever created.
And in true gamer form, it’s surrounded by a ring of RGB lights.
This unique boat has many potential uses, and while it isn’t confirmed to be a new home for Gaben, it’s good to know he has the option to choose from such luxurious vessels.
I was so excited to see what Valve announced! They’re coming out with a bunch of cool new stuff – a refreshed Steam Deck, a whole Steam Machine, and even a new VR headset called the Frame. As a fan, I can’t wait to check them all out!
