The latest update for No Man’s Sky introduces Xeno Arenas, where players can battle creatures in a style similar to Pokemon. Since its release in 2016, No Man’s Sky has received many major updates. The developers, Hello Games, have significantly improved the game since its original launch, adding new features and expanding what was already there. These changes have kept the game popular and continue to bring in new players.
When No Man’s Sky first launched, it was a major disappointment for Hello Games. The game lacked many of the features that had been promised, leaving early players feeling let down. This could have meant the end for the game, but the developers spent the last ten years consistently releasing free updates. These updates added new content and features, dramatically changing how people view No Man’s Sky.
No Man’s Sky’s Xeno Arena Update
The newest update for No Man’s Sky introduces the Xeno Arena, where players can battle with creatures they’ve collected. Sean Murray, head of Hello Games, explained that the team drew inspiration from popular monster-collecting games like Pokemon, Palworld, and the pet battling system in World of Warcraft. Players can expect a similar experience in the Xeno Arena, using their companions in exciting fights.
Okay, so the way battles work in No Man’s Sky is pretty different from other monster-catching games. It’s not actually about the creatures fighting directly! Instead, it’s all done with holograms. You find these new Holo-Arena tables in settlements, buildings, space stations – all over the place – and that’s where the action happens. You have to build a team, and to do that, you need to learn the eight different affinities. It’s kinda like Pokemon types – each affinity has strengths and weaknesses. For example, if I build a team with a lot of Fire-based companions, they’ll crush Ice-based enemies, but they’ll have a tough time against anything radioactive. So, it’s all about knowing what works against what!
The latest No Man’s Sky update is letting players have more creature companions – increasing the limit from 18 to 30. Players can use the Analysis Visor to scan creatures and learn about their strengths in combat to help them choose the best companions. With this update coming just two months after the major Remnant update, players have plenty of new content to explore.

Whether players will enjoy the latest update to No Man’s Sky remains to be seen, but the new Xeno Arena feels like a fitting next step for the game. At its heart, No Man’s Sky is about exploring and making the game your own, and this update offers even more ways to experience its huge universe while creating a team of companions tailored to your preferences. It’s another example of Hello Games continuing to build on the game’s foundations. After a decade, No Man’s Sky has become much more than anyone originally imagined, and that’s definitely a positive thing.
