Summary
- Xbox Game Pass is losing 10 games on March 31.
- This includes 4 Yakuza games and Monster Hunter Rise.
- Other great games are getting the boot from Game Pass on the same day.
For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, Monday, March 31 will mark a day of parting ways with some top-tier games. While Xbox Game Pass typically sees more additions than departures twice a month, certain months witness the exit of popular titles that the service boasts. The impact on subscribers varies, as not every month is alike; sometimes, less prominent games are withdrawn, but other times, it’s some of the most esteemed titles that are being removed.
On March 31st, it’s been announced that Xbox Game Pass will be removing ten games from its library. These titles include Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, Lil Gator Game, MLB The Show 24, Monster Hunter Rise, Open Roads, The Lamplighter’s League, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, be sure to play these games before they are taken off the service by the end of the month.
10 games departing from Xbox Game Pass on Monday, March 31st is a tough blow, yet it’s the exceptional quality of these games that makes this date particularly melancholic for the subscription service. The departure of the four Yakuza games is disheartening, as they mark the beginning of the series. It’s likely that many gamers discovered and became fans of the Yakuza franchise through Game Pass while playing these initial games, but after March 31st, it will no longer be feasible to do so.
List of Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving March 31
- Hot Wheels Unleashed 2
- Lil Gator Game
- MLB The Show 24
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Open Roads
- The Lamplighter’s League
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
As a dedicated fan who’s deeply immersed in the world of Monster Hunter Rise, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment at its departure from Game Pass. Despite the thrilling launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, there are many of us who found joy and adventure in Rise, possibly playing it under our Game Pass subscriptions. With an impressive 88 overall critic rating on OpenCritic, making it one of the top-tier games available on Game Pass, it’s truly a shame to see such a highly-rated title bid farewell.
If you’re a Game Pass subscriber with an affinity for unique indie games, you might want to focus on “Lil Gator Game“, a title that combines aspects of exploration similar to Zelda and 3D platforming. With generally positive reviews and considered one of the stronger titles on Game Pass, this game is also quite brief. I strongly advise you to give it a try while it’s still available on the service. Unfortunately, “MLB The Show 24” is departing at a time when “MLB The Show 25” has not been included in Game Pass, potentially diminishing the platform’s appeal for baseball enthusiasts.
It’s unfortunate that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have a gloomy Monday, March 31. However, they can look forward to an exciting lineup of new additions in April 2025. Titles such as “South of Midnight”, “Blue Prince”, and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” are among those set to join the service, ensuring a plentiful supply of fresh games for gaming enthusiasts.
