A gamer created a replica of a GameStop store in their basement. The impressive project has resonated with many other gamers, bringing back happy memories of shopping for video games at GameStop and similar stores.

GameStop is now one of the few remaining retail chains in the US dedicated to video games. Many game stores have closed or significantly reduced their size over time, largely because more people are now buying games online instead of physical copies. Gamer Builds Their Own GameStop

A gamer took their love for retro games to the extreme by building a GameStop replica inside their home! They shared photos on Reddit, showcasing a remarkably realistic recreation of a game store stocked with their personal collection. The gamer, known as Chef-BILLIEVE, has been collecting games since the 90s and has plenty to display – games, consoles, collectibles, and even old TVs for playing classic systems. It’s likely many gamers will recognize their favorite titles in the photos.

Gamers online have been really excited about someone creating a home GameStop setup, and they’ve had lots of questions about how it was done. The creator explained they used shelves and displays bought during a store closing sale. One person said it reminded them more of an old EB Games, which the creator was thrilled about, since that’s what they were going for – recreating a store from their childhood. Many fans also playfully teased GameStop, especially about how little they offer for used games. Across the US and Germany, physical game purchases were down overall, and a remarkable 99% of PC games were bought digitally. While some players still prefer physical copies due to worries about digital licensing and potential loss of access to purchased games, the gaming industry is clearly moving towards digital distribution.

Buying games online is incredibly convenient. If you have a fast internet connection, you can easily find what you want, often at a good price, and download it in just minutes or a few hours – much simpler than going to a store.
