As a long-time enthusiast of multiplayer games, I must say that these three hidden gems are absolute treasures for players seeking a fun and unique gaming experience!
Games offer individuals an opportunity to experience and assume roles they might never encounter in their everyday lives. These experiences can often be extraordinary, such as acquiring supernatural abilities or visiting magical realms. On the other hand, they could also involve ordinary or slightly peculiar situations, for instance, transforming into pieces of furniture.
A captivating approach to transforming the ordinary into something exciting involves blending it with various gaming aspects, such as incorporating a stealth component or requiring players to disguise themselves as everyday objects to accomplish tasks.
7 Honorable Mention: Pokemon (Kind Of)
Lampent And Chandelure Are Furniture, And Bronzor Is Almost Furniture
It appears that some might find it a bit of a loophole, but in truth, Pokemon fits the bill. Players don’t directly control their Pokemon; instead, they give commands to these creatures, which makes them more like an extension of the trainer. Over the years, Game Freak has shown great ingenuity in designing Pokemon, drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources. While it’s been common since Generation 1 to create Pokemon based on inanimate objects, Game Freak has generally avoided using furniture as inspiration. However, it’s important to note that the word “mostly” is significant here – there have been instances where they have indeed used furniture-inspired designs for some Pokemon.
5th generation introduced Lampent and Chandelure, who are essentially sentient lamps and chandeliers, respectively. Their designs make it clear they’re pieces of furniture with a life of their own. Although not incredibly potent, Chandelure is a respectable dual-type Pokémon (Ghost/Fire), making it a versatile addition to many trainers’ teams, particularly for those focusing on the single-player storyline.
Except for this evolutionary line, Pokemon also has Bronzor, which is just a mirror.
6 PropHunt GMod
Hide As Props
Garry’s Mod, often abbreviated as GMod, serves as an expansive playground for users to explore their creativity and ingenuity. Utilizing a variant of Valve’s Source Engine, GMod has cultivated a vast online community, where players generate an abundance of custom content and game modes. One such popular game mode is PropHunt, in which teams, Props and Seekers, engage in a thrilling hide-and-seek gameplay experience.
In this game scenario, members of the ‘Prop’ team are given 30 seconds to blend in by transforming themselves into any of the stationary items they encounter across the map, such as tables, chairs, shelves, and so forth. On the other hand, the ‘Seeker’ team’s objective is to locate the hidden ‘Props’ and eliminate them using their available weapons. However, Seekers suffer damage if they mistakenly attack non-player items.
5 Propnight
Gone But Not Forgotten
Sadly, the game Propnight ceased operation on January 22, 2024, so you can’t play it anymore.
Have you ever pondered about merging the PropHunt from GMod with Dead by Daylight’s multiplayer survival horror? Then, take a look at Propnight! This game brings together aspects of both games in a less gruesome but undeniably eerie multiplayer experience. The gameplay is straightforward and fans of either series should find it easy to grasp.
In this scenario, participants examine the game layout and conceal their identities by blending in with various objects that exist within it. However, unlike the traditional setup where one person searches for others (Props vs Seekers), we have Survivors and Killers. Each group possesses unique skills they can employ to emerge victorious in the game.
4 Run, Prop, Run
Become The Hunter (Or Prop)
If you’re a gamer who enjoys the concept of games such as GMod but prefers something a bit more adorable and suitable for all ages, Run, Prop, Run is the perfect choice for you. This is a 12-player game that combines elements of prop hunt with platformer challenges. In most prop hunt games, when the hunter catches the props, they typically remain hunters. However, in this unique twist, when the Hunter captures the Props, they too transform into Hunters.
A match can start with 11 Props vs. 1 Hunter and then end with 1 Prop and 11 Hunters, making the difficulty harder with each player turned. Hunters get to customize their characters and, with every piece of furniture and prop donning googly eyes, it’s a bit more challenging to tell which is another player and which isn’t.
3 Fortnite Prop Hunt
A Fun Distraction
Fortnite isn’t limited to battle-royal or survival enthusiasts; it caters to those who crave creativity and seek to push the boundaries within the game. The game offers a Creative Mode, allowing players to craft their personal island for construction, and even invite friends to join in the fun. Additionally, they can explore other players’ islands using public codes within the community.
Among the many map choices available in Creative Mode, the thrilling game known as Prop Hunt is a fan favorite. You’ll find a variety of unique island settings, each offering its own themed gaming experiences for you to explore and enjoy.
2 Midnight Ghost Hunt
I Ain’t Afraid Of No Furniture Ghost
In contrast to the traditional understanding that Hide and Seek is only for living beings, the game Midnight Ghost Hunt proves otherwise. It’s an engaging multiplayer game where players are divided into two teams: Ghosts and Hunters. They engage in intense 4 versus 4 battles on various chilling haunted maps. The objective of the Hunters is to locate each ghost using advanced ghost-hunting gear, such as a Vacuum for collecting their spectral energy and a Spectral Cannon for blasting them off the map entirely.
As a gamer, I find myself transforming into a ghostly entity, blending seamlessly with the surroundings by assuming the guise of ordinary furniture. These spectral beings possess extraordinary abilities; they can make objects levitate at will and mimic one of the hunters, concealing themselves amidst the crowd. But as the clock strikes twelve, the game takes a thrilling turn – I, along with other ghosts, now become the hunters, relentlessly pursuing the hunters in an electrifying onslaught.
1 Peekaboo
Fun Twist On Prop Hunt
Peekaboo is an adorable game, similar to PropHunt, that allows you to transform into pieces of furniture. Like other games in this genre, there are two teams: one as the Hunters and the other as the disguised Props. What sets Peekaboo apart is its colorful and detailed map designs.
In a sci-fi cyberpunk metropolis or an antique Wild West settlement, every map exudes a palpable sense of life and occupation. You’ll find numerous maps here, each equipped with the flexibility to adjust the time of day and foster diverse atmospheres.
