Currently, GameStop has expressed plans to sell off its retail operations in France and Canada, which respectively had 332 and 203 stores by February 2024. If these sales go through, GameStop’s presence would significantly decrease in countries other than the U.S., as it also operates in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and other regions. GameStop Could Shut Down in France and Canada

As early as January, numerous GameStop stores in the U.S. were covertly closed, leaving many regular patrons disheartened. Currently, about 2,000 stores continue operation within the country, but it’s uncertain how long they will manage to stay open.

Despite a challenging outlook for GameStop’s brick-and-mortar stores, they are still engaging their customers through online deals. For instance, GameStop recently unveiled a ‘Buy 2 Get 1 Free’ promotion for PlayStation 4 games this week. In total, there are over 1,600 games to pick from, allowing customers to buy three pre-owned PS4 games online and enjoy the lowest-priced one at no cost.
