- GameStop is asking affected customers to send DMs regarding custom bundle issue.
Following recent customer complaints about attempting to sell enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 packages during pre-order launches, GameStop has confirmed they are currently looking into the matter. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to hit stores on June 5, and eager fans have already secured their units through pre-orders from multiple retailers.
Pre-ordering for the Nintendo Switch 2 has turned out to be quite a fiasco, with the official launch causing websites like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy to crash. In fact, on April 25th, the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order page mysteriously vanished from Walmart’s site without any clarification. However, despite some technical glitches, numerous individuals were able to successfully reserve their consoles, so they can look forward to receiving them when it’s finally available.
In a recent tweet, Elea Tsentzelis shared an observation about GameStop’s behavior following the launch of pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 on April 24. It appears that one of their stores was offering custom bundles to gamers waiting in line to buy the console. Tsentzelis mentioned they were still planning to buy ‘Donkey Kong Bananza’ and a screen protector, but this didn’t change their purchase decision. However, they noted that some people were leaving the store without making a purchase, leading others to question whether GameStop was engaging in unethical business practices. Since Nintendo’s official bundle comes with a digital copy of ‘Mario Kart World’, this additional offering from GameStop raised concerns among customers.
GameStop Location Accused of Selling Custom Switch 2 Bundles

GameStop has addressed concerns on Twitter, acknowledging they’re looking into allegations where customers were denied service if they didn’t wish to buy a custom package. They invite those affected to message them privately so they can attempt to rectify the situation. However, some users noted it might be challenging to resolve the issue entirely since GameStop’s online store and physical outlets have run out of the Nintendo Switch 2. Thankfully, it seems this problem is not prevalent across all locations, as many customers reported their local GameStops only offered the console along with the “Mario Kart World” bundle.
The forthcoming debut game for the new Nintendo Switch 2, titled Split Fiction, has sparked a bit of debate lately. It was disclosed that boxes containing this game sold by retailers might only include a code rather than a physical copy. This has angered a significant segment of the community who believe that purchasing a physical version of the game should entail receiving a tangible copy. Despite some initial issues with pre-orders and game releases, many enthusiasts are hopeful about the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, overlooking these hiccups.
