GWM’s Favourite Events From 2024

2021 was exceptionally bustling in the realm of gaming tournaments, showcasing the crème de la crème.

G-STAR (Korea)

Our initial event in South Korea, G-STAR, proved to be an eye-opening experience regarding the widespread gaming culture there. Not only did we immerse ourselves in the convention filled with game developers, but we also had the chance to interact with some of our most prominent figures such as Jang Wonyoung and Kim Yeji.

Six Invitational (Brazil)

It’s quite possible that this sports event presented one of the most outstanding esports atmospheres we’ll ever experience. The Sao Paolo arena buzzed with excitement as fans waved flags and drums, and the climactic encounter featured two sets of Brazilian twin brothers, each on different teams.

Esports World Cup (Saudi Arabia)

At the Esports World Cup, we had an exceptional opportunity to interact closely with players from both Warzone and League of Legends. For Warzone, we managed to conduct interviews with prominent figures such as JoeWo, Breadman, and Jukeyz, while also enjoying the Falcons’ impressive performances coupled with some entertaining banter.

EVO (United States)

At our initial visit to EVO, we weren’t let down. This event is uniquely structured to evoke the essence of traditional esports, creating an atmosphere where spectators gather around various tables on the floor to witness competition, eventually culminating in a large crowd cheering for the main stage. We had the privilege of witnessing Punk, Nitro, and SonicFox securing impressive, heartfelt victories.

Thunderpick World Championship (Germany)

At a compact, makeshift event reminiscent of a boiler room, the Thunderpick World Championship unfolded. The MongolZ emerged victorious in this tournament, with a vocal and enthusiastic audience clearly cheering them on.

Which major esports or gaming event from 2024 left the most memorable impression on you? For myself, the standout event was Gamescom held in Cologne. It was my initial visit to this spectacular occasion, and I must say, it surpassed all expectations.
