Gen 10’s Greek Mythology Might Give Hydreigon a Mythical Makeover

Summary

  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A leaks suggest no new Pokemon, focusing on Mega Evolutions, potentially needing DLC.
  • Gen 10 is rumored to be set in Greece, and could introduce regional forms or fakes for Hydreigon, inspired by Greek mythology.
  • A similar concept could have Hydreigon grow more heads or turn into a plant with multiple flowers for its heads.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve heard quite a bit of chatter and whispers about Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It’s been suggested that the game might not introduce any new critters, and a list has even surfaced online, detailing all the Pokémon set to receive Mega Evolutions. If these leaks are accurate, I believe Game Freak should really emphasize Mega Evolutions in this game, perhaps even releasing DLC post-launch featuring new creatures to keep fans engaged. So far, Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s leaked Mega Evolutions number 27, with Mega Zeraora being the 28th and supposedly cut from the game. If one of my favorite Gen 5 Pokémon truly misses out on a Mega, it would be only fair for Gen 10 to step in and lend a helping hand.

From what we’ve seen in trailers and gameplay segments of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it appears that the battle royale event during nighttime is a significant focus, implying that Mega Evolutions could be a crucial aspect of the game. Given that 27 new Megas might seem like a substantial number, if the game doesn’t introduce any new forms or species, this count may actually be on the smaller side. Introducing additional Megas could provide an engaging twist, but as of now, there’s no mention of Hydreigon, which consistently ranks high in popularity among all Pokemon.

Pokemon Gen 10 Has The Perfect Myths to Make Amazing Regional Forms or Fakes for Hydreigon

Today, Centro Leaks posted on Twitter that they have verified the upcoming event, codenamed “Gen 10” or “Gaia,” will be set in Greece, more specifically, the Cyclades Archipelago. This is exciting news for Hydreigon fans as it suggests that, even if Gen 5 Pokemon doesn’t receive a Mega Evolution in “Pokemon Legends: Z-A”, there’s a strong possibility of a regional form or regional fake for Gen 10, inspired by Greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, there are numerous fascinating creatures and monsters that could serve as intriguing inspirations for new Pokemon evolutions or forms. For instance, Pokemon Generation 10 might consider introducing a Cerberus evolution for Houndoom, given its thematic and aesthetic compatibility. Similarly, Hydreigon could find inspiration in the many hydra legends to develop a regional form or regional fake line, offering an exciting opportunity for Generation 10 to create something distinctive for one of the franchise’s most cherished critters.

In essence, Hydreigon derives its name from the mythical creature called hydra, known for having more than three heads. Given the rich Greek folklore associated with hydras, it seems plausible that Hydreigon could be a perfect fit. For instance, a local variant might sport seven or nine heads instead of the usual three, and this transformation could even alter its type composition. On the other hand, a fictional evolutionary line could become quite intriguing if Hydreigon were to transform into a floral Pokémon, featuring multiple flowers as its heads instead.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Iron Jugulis May Be a Bad Omen For Hydreigon in Gen 10

Infinite possibilities exist, yet t Z-A. For now, this is merely speculation, but it appears that all the circumstances are favorable for Hydreigon to outshine itself in Generation 10.
