As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and patience when it comes to The Witcher 4. Having grown up with Geralt as a beloved character, the idea of a new trilogy without him as the main focus initially left me scratching my head. However, after Doug Cockle’s recent clarification about his previous comments, I find myself in a state of intrigue.
As I eagerly await the start of production on The Witcher 4, codenamed Project Polaris by CD Projekt RED, I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my lips sealed about what they’ve got planned. This new chapter promises to kick off a fresh trilogy where Geralt, our beloved protagonist, won’t be the central figure.
Initially, it was thought that Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt in English, might have revealed some details about Geralt’s role in the upcoming game. However, earlier this year, he confirmed that while Geralt will indeed be included in the game, he won’t serve as the main protagonist.
At the MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, I got the chance to hear Cockle shed some light on his previous statements. To my surprise, it seems like Geralt might not make an appearance in the game after all!
Initially, I made a comment online about a potential rumor regarding The Witcher 4, stating that Geralt might appear but not as the main character. However, CD Projekt corrected me, saying they haven’t revealed any details yet. As a result, I cannot confirm if my statement was accurate or not, and the true state of The Witcher 4 remains unknown to me.
Don’t Expect The Witcher 4 Anytime Soon
400 team members are now fully engaged in the creation of The Witcher 4 at CD Projekt RED, but fans should not anticipate its release in the immediate future.
CD Projekt refers to their current game as their “most sophisticated” undertaking, yet acknowledges that despite moving into full-production, it remains in the early stages of development. Following the challenges experienced during the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s anticipated that CD Projekt RED will be cautious before disclosing details about The Witcher 4.
As an ardent admirer, I can confirm that we anticipate The Witcher 3 won’t simply be a rehash in a fresh coat of paint. CD Projekt is aiming to revolutionize the series by introducing a unique narrative perspective and refreshing the gameplay mechanics, steering us away from the familiar path of Geralt.
Don’t expect The Witcher 4 to release anytime before 2026; even that might be too soon, though.
