Three fresh games are set to debut on the first day of Xbox Game Pass in April 2025: “Descenders Next”, “Blue Prince”, and “Tempopo”. These indie games promise to make April an even more thrilling month for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, joining previously announced titles like “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“.
2025 has proven to be a fantastic year for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, boasting day-one additions like “Avowed”, “Sniper Elite: Resistance”, “Eternal Strands” and more to its renowned service. In January’s Xbox Developer Direct, Microsoft officially announced the release dates of two highly anticipated games in April: the French RPG “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” and the long-awaited action-adventure title “South of Midnight”. Not too long ago, Microsoft also confirmed that “Commandos: Origins” will be another addition to the lineup for the month.
Microsoft recently announced at the ID@Xbox Showcase that three new games will debut on Xbox Game Pass as launch titles in April. The extreme sports game “Descenders Next”, developed by RageSquid, will be available starting April 9th. On the 10th, the unique puzzle game “Blue Prince” joins the service, and “Tempopo”, a music-focused puzzle game, follows on the 17th. It’s important to note that these games will only be accessible through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass; they won’t be available for Xbox Game Pass Standard subscribers because day one releases aren’t typically included in that plan.

Among the many highlights from the recent ID@Xbox Showcase, a thrilling surprise was the unexpected release of the card-game sensation, “Balatro,” on Xbox Game Pass. Inspired by poker and boasting deckbuilding mechanics, this indie game has been a massive success since its debut in early 2024, selling millions of copies and receiving glowing praise from critics, making it one of the top games of the year. Remarkably, “Balatro” was also nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, ultimately losing to “Astro Bot.
In addition to the games scheduled for April, several intriguing independent games were also announced for Xbox Game Pass during the ID@Xbox Showcase. These upcoming titles include “33 Immortals” set for release on March 18th, “Revenge of the Savage Planet” on May 8th, and four games without specified launch dates: “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault”, “Tanuki Pon’s Summer”, “Buckshot Roulette”, and “Echo Weaver”. Notably, some of these games like “Buckshot Roulette” are already accessible on PC via Steam, while others such as “Moonlighter 2” will debut simultaneously on both PC and Xbox.
