Among the reasons Square Enix chose to release the “Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake” first is that it’s the oldest game in the series, following the chronology. The original “Dragon Quest” trilogy revolves around the hero Erdrick, and players can now enjoy his story with Square Enix’s stunning HD-2D art style. Notably, a native version of “Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake” is also planned for Nintendo Switch 2.
Square Enix announced during Dragon Quest Day festivities that the remastered version of Dragon Quest 1 & 2, known as the Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, is indeed headed for the Nintendo Switch 2. Moreover, they revealed that the game will be available starting October 30. While fans eagerly await the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s important to note that this remastered edition will also be playable on PC, PS5, original Switch, and Xbox Series X.

This means that if the Switch 2 does launch, fans like me can still enjoy revisiting the entire Erdrick Trilogy without missing out on any action!
Square Enix has shown significant interest in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 from the get-go. They’ve confirmed that “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade” will be available on the Switch 2, and they suggest that other games in the series may also appear on the new console. Furthermore, “Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster” has been announced as a launch title for the Switch 2, set to release along with the console on June 5.
