Avatar: Fire and Ash emerged victorious at CinemaCon, sparking excitement among the fortunate few. For those who missed out, a fresh still has been released, offering an abundance of intriguing visual cues and storyline hints to enjoy.
The upcoming film, titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash“, will be the third part of James Cameron’s highly successful Avatar series, following 2009’s original Avatar and the recently released 2022 film, Avatar: The Way of Water. These two previous films garnered a collective $5 billion at the box office, placing them among the top three highest-grossing movies ever. As is typical with Cameron’s films, the new Avatar installment is anticipated to have an extended running time, as it delves into the lives of another Pandoran species, the Ash people, who use fire in their battles against the Na’vi. Additionally, Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to offer a deeper, more emotionally charged narrative. Actress Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role as Doctor Grace Augustine in this upcoming sequel.
Payakan And The Tulkun World Will Play A Huge Pivotal In Avatar: Fire and Ash
Tulkun Culture Will Be Explored In The Film

At CinemaCon, viewers got a sneak peek at never-before-seen footage from the upcoming movie, while everyone else can enjoy a fresh image released by Empire Magazine. The picture unveils Jake Sully’s second child, Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), riding his pet Tulkun, Payakan, who you may recognize from the previous film, Avatar: The Way of Water. Richard Baneham, VFX supervisor and executive producer, hinted that Payakan would be showcased at the “highest level” in the movie. Moreover, Baneham shared with Empire Magazine the addition of a new female Tulkun friend for Payakan named Ta’nok, who is also an outcast like him. Additionally, there will be clan leaders, including a Matriarch whose appearance will include rings and tattoos to hint at a deeper history. In short, Avatar: Fire and Ash promises more of the Tulkun species along with insights into their culture and society for fans.
A glimpse at Avatar: Fire and Ash, coupled with Baneham’s statements, supports James Cameron’s previous assertions that the movie might be one of the most emotional, even surpassing the previous two in quality. The bond between Lo’ak and the solitary Tulkun, Payakan, is said to contribute significantly to Avatar: The Way of Water’s emotional impact. This relationship also aligns with Cameron’s comments about the two films sharing similar ideological themes.
We cannot defeat an enemy that comes from the stars.
Fire and Ash might not be the top-grossing Avatar movie at the end of the year. Although we don’t know if Colonel Miles Quaritch and his crew will return for more revenge against Jake Sully and his family, a line from the CinemaCon footage hints that there may still be threats from colonizers in Avatar: Fire and Ash, or it could just refer to the Ash people as suggested by the January concept art.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is due in theaters on December 19.
