Get Ready For The Monster Trio’s New Major Power Up In One Piece

This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.

I’m absolutely hooked on One Piece! It’s incredible to watch the Straw Hat Pirates grow – seriously, they’ve come so far over the last 28 years! They started out as this little crew in the East Blue, barely making a ripple, but now? Now they’re one of the Yonko, the most powerful pirate crews in the world, and everyone fears them. It’s been such an amazing journey to witness!

The Straw Hat Pirates’ fame is largely thanks to three incredibly powerful members, often called The Monster Trio by fans. This group consists of Monkey D. Luffy, the crew’s captain; Roronoa Zoro, their skilled combatant; and Sanji, the talented chef. Together, they’re a formidable team, widely considered one of the strongest trios in the world of One Piece. They’re constantly getting stronger with each new challenge they face.

The challenges awaiting Luffy and his crew in Elbaf will likely be similar to those they’ve faced before, but Eiichiro Oda has planned significant power increases for them. Luffy and his allies are set to become much stronger during this arc, and this growth will largely be due to mastering Conqueror’s Haki.

The Monster Trio Is Officially Back In Action In One Piece

  • The Loki flashback is finally over in Elbaf
  • The Monster Trio will be heading into action soon enough

For the past several months, fans haven’t seen much of the Monster Trio due to a lengthy flashback focusing on the history of Elbaf. This flashback detailed how Harald gained respect and Loki reached his current position, and it lasted over seven months. Now that the flashback is complete, the main story will resume. All attention will now shift to the Monster Trio from the Straw Hat Pirates, who are expected to emerge from the Underworld and travel to Elbaf, where the exciting action will take place.

Now that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are back, fans are eager to see what they’ll do next. Currently, much of Elbaf is being destroyed by Imu and their army. Only a few people are still free, including Loki, Franky, Ripley, some of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Chopper, and the Straw Hat’s Monster Trio. One Piece fans understand that the story will likely center around Loki and the Monster Trio, which makes the future of Elbaf so thrilling.

Oda Has Already Prepared Major Power Ups For The Monster Trio

  • Luffy will improve Conqueror’s Haki Manipulation
  • Zoro and Sanji will learn to use Conqueror’s Haki

The upcoming Elbaf arc will be a huge turning point for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji. Although they’re already incredibly strong – with Luffy now a Yonko and Zoro and Sanji capable of defeating powerful commanders – they still have a lot of potential for growth. Each of them is driven by a strong desire to become even more powerful, and Elbaf will be where we see them reach new heights.

Beyond simply being powerful, the story demands that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji – the Monster Trio – reach a new level of strength. This is because their opponents are effectively immortal, able to recover from any injury thanks to the Covenants of Imu, particularly the Deep Sea Covenant. These Covenants grant their users a power that’s incredibly difficult for the Straw Hats to overcome. To face this threat, the Monster Trio will need a significant boost in power, and that will come from mastering Supreme King Haki.

One Piece fans are aware that Luffy possesses Supreme King Haki, but he doesn’t always use it effectively during fights. We saw this in the Egghead Arc when he battled the Five Elders. Even though he had access to Conqueror’s Haki, he couldn’t use it well enough to overcome their ability to regenerate and avoid defeat. While Luffy was powerful enough to dominate them, he ultimately couldn’t win the fight and had to escape the island. This was a humbling experience for a newly crowned Yonko, and it’s something he needs to address in the current storyline.

Gaban advised Luffy to remember how to use Conqueror’s Haki, and Luffy plans to follow that advice when he reaches the Sun Realm. He’s going to work on making his Haki more effective and increasing its power when he needs to. This training is expected to significantly boost Luffy’s abilities, and fans are eagerly anticipating his next power increase.

Zoro And Sanji Will Master Supreme King Haki

Luffy’s recent power boost is pretty simple to understand, but Zoro and Sanji are getting much more complicated and interesting upgrades. Basically, they’re both going to unlock Supreme King Haki, though they’ll develop it in unique ways.

Many fans believe Zoro always possessed the power of Conqueror’s Haki, but it’s the sword Enma that unlocks it. Throughout the Wano arc and even recently on Egghead against Lucci, Enma was key to bringing out this ability. As Gaban explained, true strength comes from understanding and controlling Conqueror’s Haki, and Enma helps Zoro do just that by effectively drawing it out.

Essentially, Zoro needs to master his Haki so he can use it whenever he needs to. This will unlock a new level of strength and remove the time limit on his powerful King of Hell form. During the Elbaf arc, Zoro will become significantly stronger, allowing him to overcome the Holy Knights’ abilities to regenerate and avoid defeat.

Many fans believe Sanji, like Luffy and Zoro, possesses Conqueror’s Haki – a power people are born with. He’s currently training with Scopper Gaban, and they’re likely to fight together in Elbaf. It’s become crucial for Sanji to unlock his Conqueror’s Haki now so he can battle the incredibly powerful enemies in the One Piece world, and it’s expected to happen soon. When Sanji masters this ability, he, Luffy, and Zoro will become a truly terrifying force, potentially reaching the same legendary status as Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban.

Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, One Piece, follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece. The story is currently in its final arc. A new chapter, number 1172, will be released in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump. It will be available on February 1, 2026, at 12:00 AM Japan Standard Time (11:00 AM Eastern Time and 8:00 AM Pacific Time).
