As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that the World of Warcraft Classic team has announced the imminent arrival of Phase 3! This exciting update is slated for our 20th Anniversary realms on March 20. For those diving into Classic for the first time, get ready to explore Blackwing Lair, embark on level 50 class quests, and immerse yourself in more retro World of Warcraft adventures once this update lands on our servers!
In honor of the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft, Blizzard launched fresh Classic realms, allowing players to embark on the epic adventure through Vanilla WoW all over again from scratch. Since then, these World of Warcraft realms have progressed into Phase 2 on January 9 – and with OnlyFangs streamer guild drama unfolding in Dire Maul and Season of Discovery characters appearing in WoW Classic Fresh Battlegrounds, the update has been quite bustling.
In these realms, we’re gearing up for Phase 3 in “World of Warcraft”, which will predominantly feature Blackwing Lair, a fortress atop Blackrock Mountain ruled by Nefarian, Deathwing’s eldest son. Once prepared to enter the instance, groups of 40 heroes will confront the raid’s eight bosses to acquire items such as the famous Tier 2 sets, Elementium Ore required for crafting Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, and Nefarian’s Head.

Not only is Phase 3 thrilling, but it also introduces fresh reputation rewards from numerous old-school factions like the Argent Dawn, Thorium Brotherhood, Timbermaw Hold, Silverwing Sentinels, and Warsong Outriders connected to Warsong Gulch. Additionally, every playable class receives unique questlines at level 50 that yield potent rare items. To top it off, the Darkmoon Faire will make its debut in World of Warcraft Classic, periodically appearing in Elwynn Forest and Mulgore to offer quests, buffs, and exclusive rewards.
In about two weeks, on April 3rd, several updates to Player versus Player (PvP) are scheduled. The Honor limit at rank 11 will be eliminated, enabling characters to accrue titles and incentives all the way up to rank 14. Furthermore, the Arathi Basin Battleground with a scale of 15 vs 15 will become accessible, offering players a novel approach to amass Honor and rewards. Lastly, every weekend from Thursday through Monday, a different Battleground map will be showcased during the Bonus Weekend event, allowing for extra rewards when achieving objectives; the first of these events begins with Arathi Basin on April 4th.
The timeless experience of Fresh will persist as it tackles the later stages of World of Warcraft throughout 2025. Specifically, Phase 4 is set for summer, followed by Phase 5 in the autumn, and Phase 6 no sooner than winter. Given this pace, it’s anticipated that the 20th Anniversary realms will commence their transition to The Burning Crusade somewhere around late 2025 or early 2026.
