Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series announced

In simple terms, Crunchyroll is planning to release a brand-new anime series based on the video game Ghost of Tsushima, which draws inspiration from Japanese legends and ancient mythology. The expected launch date for this series is in 2027.

The upcoming series is set to team up with Sony Music, PlayStation Productions, and Aniplex. What’s intriguing about this anime is that it will draw inspiration from both the “Ghost of Tsushima” game and its “Legends” mode, which offers a cooperative multiplayer experience.

Crunchyroll says:

In partnership with Aniplex, renowned for hits like Demon Slayer, Solo Leveling, and Sword Art Online, the Ghost of Tsushima anime is being developed. Director Takanobu Mizuno leads the project, while Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS) handles story composition. KAMIKAZE DOUGA will animate it all, promising to beautifully depict the traditional samurai atmosphere of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends with captivating narratives and vivid visuals. Sony Music has been enlisted as the strategic partner for music and soundtrack production in this series.

Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, stated that this project showcases the collaborative imagination within Sony, blending the talents of PlayStation Studios and Productions, Sucker Punch Productions and Aniplex, Sony Music’s renowned artists, and Crunchyroll’s marketing and distribution network that prioritizes fans. The Ghost of Tsushima anime will provide a thrilling new method for gamers to engage with the game in an innovative anime style, which is expected to be both daring and trailblazing.
