While playing Ghost of Yotei and helping Atsu defeat the Yotei Six, you’ll occasionally be asked to ‘choose a topic.’ The game doesn’t offer much explanation about what this means or how it affects things. This leaves some players wondering if your topic choices actually change the gameplay or story. This guide will explain everything you need to know about the Ghost of Yotei ‘choose a topic’ decisions, so you can play confidently and not worry about missing anything important.
What Topic Should You Choose in Ghost of Yotei?
Interrogating Enemies
You’ll encounter situations where you need to select a topic twice. The first time is when questioning enemies, especially early in the game, as you investigate the Yotei Six. After defeating opponents, you’ll have the option to choose a topic, with each one centered around a different member of the Yotei Six. In these moments, you should select the Yotei Six member you’re most interested in learning more about.
From what I’ve seen, discovering these creatures didn’t really change how the game played out – you’ll end up investigating all of them eventually. For instance, choosing to learn about the Kitsune first doesn’t force you to fight them first. Once you’ve gotten some information on the Yotei Six, you’re free to battle them in any order you prefer.
As you play, you’ll question enemies to gather crucial details that will aid Atsu in completing her objective. Just select the subjects you’re interested in, and you’ll receive the information you need. However, rest assured that you won’t be blocked from progressing, meaning there’s no way to ‘pick the incorrect topic’ in Ghost of Yotei.
Hot Springs
You’ll also get to pick a topic for discussion when Atsu relaxes in one of the hot springs in Ghost of Yotei. While enjoying the hot spring, Atsu will contemplate a subject of your choosing. The topic is completely up to you – select whichever one you find most intriguing and want to hear Atsu’s thoughts on.
The subject you think about while relaxing in a hot spring isn’t important and won’t significantly change how the game plays. It’s mainly a way to discover what Atsu thinks about different things.
