Ghost of Yotei Gets New Update for December 2025

A recent update to Ghost of Yotei addresses several issues that players have been finding, especially in the new New Game Plus mode. While not a huge update, it resolves some frustrating gameplay problems that were impacting players, particularly those using New Game Plus.

Sucker Punch Productions’ highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei, launched first on PlayStation 5 on October 2nd and has quickly become one of the year’s biggest action-adventure games. It sold over 2 million copies in just three days and has received widespread praise, earning a 90 rating on OpenCritic and winning awards for Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards. The game is also a strong contender at The Game Awards 2025, with seven nominations, including one for Best Performance by Erika Ishii as Atsu.

Just under two weeks ago, Sucker Punch released update 1.000 for Ghost of Tsushima, which included a New Game Plus mode allowing players to continue playing as Jin with his progress intact after finishing the main story. While the update added a lot to the game, it also had some bugs. A new patch has now been released to fix four gameplay issues, including problems that arose with the New Game Plus mode. The patch addresses general issues with the New Game Plus Vendor and also resolves rare instances where the game would freeze.

Beyond these general improvements, a specific bug in New Game Plus mode has been addressed. Players reported that the counters at the 15 Ghost of Yotei Bamboo Strike locations were showing negative numbers. These locations offer a minigame where players memorize and repeat button combinations to increase Atsu’s Spirit. This issue, which appeared after the 1.000 Update, is now resolved in the latest update.

A significant problem that prevented some players from getting the Platinum Armor Dye after earning a platinum trophy in Ghost of Yotei has been fixed. This issue was rare and only seemed to affect players who unlocked the trophy using multiple save files. The update also addresses occasional crashes that some players were experiencing.

Sucker Punch is still working on improving Ghost of Yotei, especially after adding the New Game Plus feature, and they have more content on the way. A co-op mode called Legends is planned for 2026, as shown in a trailer released over a month before the game launched. While a specific date hasn’t been announced, Legends will be a free download and will likely be similar to the Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima.
