Ghost of Yotei‘s expansive open world offers a lot to explore, and it can take players a significant amount of time to see everything, depending on how carefully they search. Fans of Ghost of Tsushima, the earlier game in the series, may recall that it let players reveal the entire map in a specific area by defeating all the Mongol camps located there.
Many players are curious if Ghost of Yotei lets you uncover parts of the map without exploring every inch. Here’s a simple explanation of how it works.
How to Reveal the Map in Ghost of Yotei
There are three ways to reveal the map in Ghost of Yotei:
- Walking on foot or riding on horseback through the world and experiencing what it has to offer firsthand.
- Using Spyglass/Binoculars to find points of interest, marking their location on the world map screen.
- Using Travelerās Maps to reveal the immediate area surrounding points of interest like Hot Springs, Altars of Reflection, and more.
Unlike Ghost of Tsushima, which allowed players to uncover an entire area on the map by finishing certain tasks, Ghost of Yotei doesnāt have a similar feature. In this game, Saitoās camps function like the Mongol camps found in the previous title. But, clearing these camps wonāt automatically show you all the objectives available in that region.
How to Reach New Regions in Ghost of Yotei
Ghost of Yotei features seven different regions, though you can only explore three of them immediately when you begin. To unlock the remaining areas, you’ll need to finish Main Tales – specifically, quests centered around defeating the Yotei Six.
| Region | How to Unlock |
|---|---|
| Yotei Grasslands | N/A |
| Tokachi Range | N/A |
| Mount Yotei | Accessible via the Mount Yotei Shrine in the western region of the Yotei Grasslands. |
| Ishikari Plain | Main Tale: The Oni |
| Teshio Ridge | Main Tale: The Kitsune |
| Oshima Coast | Main Tale: The Saito Brothers |
| Nayoro Wilds | Take the Central Ferry in Tokachi Range’s Great Lake. |
How to Get Travelerās Maps in Ghost of Yotei
Once you finish the story at The Old Inn in Ghost of Yotei, Isaburo the Cartographer will start selling items. He trades Travelerās Maps for coins, and the price changes. Also, friendly NPCs throughout the game world will occasionally offer clues to hidden locations-these clues lead to Travelerās Maps you can use.
To see if you have any unused Travelerās Maps, simply open the map and check the left side of your screen. Any maps you havenāt used will be shown there.
How to Use Travelerās Maps in Ghost of Yotei
Here’s how you can place Traveler’s Maps:
- Open the map screen by pressing the touchpad.
- Select the Travelerās Map by pressing Square.
- Use Left Stick to find the location on the mapās outline that corresponds to the Travelerās Map and press X to place it.
To pinpoint the exact location, use clear landmarks as guides – things like the shape of a river or the boundaries of the area. These recognizable features will help you find the right spot.
Travelerās Maps only show locations within the region theyāre for, so you donāt have to search the entire map of Ghost of Yotei. You only need to look in the area where you found the map itself.
