Ghost of Yotei is Dominating the PlayStation Pre-Order Charts

With its release date of October 2nd approaching, Ghost of Yotei is currently the most pre-ordered PlayStation game. Strong reviews and a high score on Metacritic suggest it could be a major hit this holiday season, which already has a lot of great games coming out.

Development of *Ghost of Yotei* has faced several challenges since its announcement over a year ago. The game initially received criticism from fans of *Ghost of Tsushima* because it features a female lead. More recently, a developer working on *Ghost of Yotei* was let go from Sucker Punch Productions after making controversial comments about Charlie Kirk. Many wondered if these problems would negatively impact pre-order numbers before the game’s release on October 2nd.

Ghost of Yotei Topping the PlayStation Pre-Order Charts in Multiple Countries

A Twitter user named Okami13_ posted a screenshot on Friday revealing that *Ghost of Yotei* is currently the best-selling pre-ordered game in the United States, Japan, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The deluxe version of the game tops the charts in all five regions, with the standard edition usually coming in second place – except in Japan. *Ghost of Yotei* is the number one pre-ordered game in at least 13 countries overall. The deluxe edition includes bonus in-game items like the snake armor set, a special armor dye, a unique horse and saddle, a sword kit, and traveler’s maps. While it doesn’t offer early access to the game, the included items are driving strong pre-order numbers for the deluxe version.

Initial reactions to *Ghost of Yotei* have been very good, earning a Metacritic score of 87. While it’s a sequel to *Ghost of Tsushima*, *Ghost of Yotei* doesn’t continue Jin Sakai’s story. Instead, it’s set hundreds of years later and features a new protagonist, Atsu, who travels across Japan seeking revenge against the Yotei Six in a large, open-world adventure.

Players could start downloading *Ghost of Yotei* on September 25th, giving them about a week to get their PlayStation 5 consoles ready for the 85 GB file. Keep in mind that updates before launch might change the total download size. Offering preloads likely boosted pre-orders, as it lets players start playing immediately when the game releases.
