Ghost of Yotei Release Date Announcement Comes With More Story Details

Today’s announcement of Sucker Punch Productions’ release date has given us a better understanding of the game’s narrative. Although we know the game takes place 300 years following Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch has provided more insights into the game’s plot.

Ghost of Yotei Story Synopsis:

In the core of what is now referred to as Hokkaido sixteen years ago, there was a band of ruthless outlaws called the Yōtei Six who robbed Atsu of everything she had. They cruelly murdered her family and abandoned her for dead, fastening her to a flaming ginkgo tree outside her house.

However, Atsu lived on. She mastered combat, took lives, and honed her hunting skills during her long absence. Now, she’s back in her homeland, carrying a list of six names: The Viper, The Ogre, The Fox-spirit, The Arachnid, The Wyrm, and Lord Saito. One by one, she’s pursuing these adversaries to avenge her kin, wielding the very sword that once impaled her to a flaming tree trunk in the past. Yet, Atsu’s tale does not start with revenge alone; instead, she discovers that there’s more to her voyage than just retribution as she delves into Ezo. Along the way, she encounters unexpected allies and forms bonds that provide her with a fresh perspective on life.

Gamers who pre-order any version of Ghost of Yotei will receive the following:

  • Seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yotei Six at launch (Pre-orders on the PlayStation Store will receive the avatars immediately)
