It appears that Ghost of Yotei is probably Sony’s major holiday game for the year 2025, while details on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet are scarce as it’s yet to be released. Information beyond its initial unveiling has been limited so far.
Over the weekend, there was an update on the official Ghost of Yotei webpage by Sony, subtly disclosing fresh information about the game. Among these updates, a single detail caught everyone’s attention.
Ghost of Yotei New Gameplay And Story Details Silently Revealed By Sony

Sony unveiled fresh details about the game through its official website, where updates have been posted. The narrative is set in 1603, three centuries after Ghost of Tsushima, implying that Jin will not reappear except possibly as a flashback character, since he should have passed away before the events of Yotei begin.
If you were eagerly waiting for Jin to brandish two blades in Ghost of Tsushima, get ready because it’s happening in Ghost of Yotei! Sony officially announced that the game’s main character, Atsu, will now be capable of dual wielding katanas. Additionally, new weapons such as the odach and kusarigama are also being introduced. For those who might not be familiar, an odachi is a traditional Japanese sword, specifically a long sword, used by the samurai class during feudal Japan. It’s typically 90cm in length and is often referred to as a “great sword” or “long sword.
The kusarigama is another traditional Japanese weapon, which features a tool similar to a sickle, known as a kama, attached to a metal chain (kusari) that terminates in a hefty iron weight.
For those playing the game, they’ll find themselves immersed in vast landscapes boasting open fields and frozen tundra, a setting similar to that seen in Ghost of Tsushima.
It’s only logical that the upcoming game would feature fresh mechanics and enhancements to its gameplay, as it is a follow-up title.
The main concept of the game has been unveiled by Sony, who succinctly explained: “Pursued by anger and vengeance, Atsu sets out to track down those responsible for her family’s demise. Along the way, she’ll take on odd jobs and bounties to gather funds for her quest. However, the methods she uses in combat, her survival tactics, and how she ultimately becomes the Ghost legend are all in your hands.
According to Sony’s recent update, the game “Ghost of Yotei” is scheduled for release in 2025, but no specific date has been provided yet. It’s likely that within the coming months, we will see a special presentation dedicated to “Ghost of Yotei,” which could unveil new gameplay features, the official release date, and additional details.
For those who have the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony has verified that we will witness “improved graphics and speed,” which is typically associated with fresh PlayStation 5 games.
