The eagerly-awaited sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima”, titled “Ghost of Yotei”, is gearing up to become one of the most significant first-party games on PlayStation not just in 2025, but throughout the entire PlayStation 5 console era. Unveiled during a State of Play in September 2024, this highly anticipated open-world game is being developed by Sucker Punch Productions, Sony’s studio, creating its first title from scratch for PS5 hardware. Similar to their previous work, “Ghost of Yotei” will offer a self-contained experience, ensuring those who didn’t play “Ghost of Tsushima” can still enjoy it.
As of now, Sony hasn’t set a definite release date for the game “Ghost of Yotei”, but there are strong indications that it might be launched in fall. Like other recent AAA Sony games, it’s expected to have a collector’s edition up for grabs. If this collector’s edition is indeed available, it’s tough to predict what items it will contain. However, a statue of the wolf depicted in the “Ghost of Yotei” reveal trailer could make an excellent collectible for this game version.
Ghost of Yotei’s Collector’s Edition Should Come With a Wolf Statue
The Gray Wolf from Ghost of Yotei’s Reveal Trailer Could Be a Companion for Atsu
The short preview for the game titled “Ghost of Yotei” is rich with information, yet avoids excessive explanation. The trailer subtly conveys essential details about the game without overwhelming viewers. Notably, animals play a significant role in this game. The main character, Atsu, can be seen not only riding a horse but also taming a gray wolf at the end of the trailer, hinting that wolves might serve as companions within the game. Given that “Ghost of Yotei” seems to be set in more remote and barren landscapes than “Ghost of Tsushima“, having animal allies could prove beneficial for players navigating the wilderness.
The Ghost of Yotei Collector’s Edition Will Probably Be Similar to Its Ghost of Tsushima Counterpart
If the wolf depicted in the trailer for Ghost of Yotei turns out to be significant, it might make sense for Sony to create a statue of it as a special feature for the game’s collector’s edition. Such an inclusion wouldn’t be unprecedented, given that the collector’s edition of Ghost of Tsushima included various collectible items. The Ghost of Tsushima collector’s edition didn’t have a statue, but it did offer a replica of Jin Sakai’s iconic ninja mask.
In addition to the main game, the Collector’s Edition of “Ghost of Tsushima” came packaged with various extras such as an Island of Tsushima cloth map, a Sashimono war banner, a physical mini-art book, and a Furoshiki wrapping cloth. It also included some digital in-game items like a Hero of Tsushima skin set and an additional technique point. If there is a “Ghost of Yotei” Collector’s Edition, it would likely contain similar items.
Ghost of Yotei’s Collector’s Edition Will Likely Be Less than $200
Regarding the Ghost of Tsushima collector’s edition, even though it came packed with over a dozen great items, it was priced around $170, which wasn’t excessively expensive compared to other AAA game collector’s editions at that time. To put it into perspective, when Ghost of Tsushima was launched, AAA games typically cost $60, so the additional items in the collector’s edition essentially added an extra $110 to the base price. Given this trend, if a Ghost of Yotei collector’s edition is ever released, it might fall within a similar price range, somewhere between $170 and $190. However, a high-quality wolf statue could potentially drive up the overall cost of the Yotei edition, but some dedicated Ghost of Yotei fans might still be prepared to pay a premium for such an item.
