In the upcoming event scheduled for April 19, Pokemon GO is introducing a new addition – the Gigantamax Snorlax. This will be the ninth Gigantamax Pokemon to join the game and the seventh one originating from Kanto, belonging to the Normal type.

Following the kick-off of the Max Out season in September 2024, the game Pokemon GO introduced Gigantamax forms for the Kanto starters. Gigantamax Gengar made its debut in October to mark Halloween, and as the year drew to a close, players welcomed Gigantamax Toxtricity and Lapras. The new year, 2025, saw the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler in Pokemon GO in February. Now, another popular Pokemon is set to join the roster, with its Gigantamax variant coming soon.

On April 19, there will be a special event in Pokemon GO called a Max Battle Day where Gigantamax Snorlax is set to make its first appearance. This event takes place from 2 to 5 pm, depending on your local time zone. During these hours, trainers can engage in six-star Max Battles with the opportunity to encounter a shiny Gigantamax Snorlax. However, it’s important to note that this Pokemon cannot be transferred to Pokemon Home. In addition to this, players will have access to Max Mushrooms, which temporarily double the damage caused by their Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon in Max Battles.

On Max Battle Day, participants have the chance to amass up to 1,600 Max Particles and engage in two extra Special Trades. From April 19, 12 am to 5 pm local time, players will gather twice as many Max Particles while exploring, and only a quarter of the normal distance is needed to earn them. A Timed Research leading up to the event will be accessible from April 16 at 6 pm until April 19 at 5 pm, offering Candy, Max Particles, and an encounter with Dynamax Machop as rewards. For $5, a themed Timed Research ticket can be purchased, providing perks such as one Max Mushroom and the ability to accumulate up to 5,600 Max Particles. A box costing $4.99 on the web store includes an event ticket and a Max Particle Pack.

As we approach the final weeks of March, participants have already gotten a sneak peek at some events scheduled for Pokemon GO in April. Starting from April 3, the Stunning Styles event will introduce the debut of Paldean Tauros into the game. Prior to that, there are several events lined up for March, such as the introduction of Sizzlipede during Bug Out 2025 (April 26-30) and the Fuzzy Buddy Research Day on March 29.
