It was speculated last year that Sony might be planning to rework the whole God of War Greek series, collecting them all into a single release slated for 2025.

Despite speculation that new God of War details might be unveiled during Sony’s initial State of Play event for the year, which took place earlier this month, no such announcements were made concerning God of War.

God of War Greek Remaster Rumors Still Hold Weight

As a devoted fan, I’m excitedly sharing the news that, according to trusted insider Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, we might be on the brink of announcing a stunning God of War Greek remaster! This revelation comes as we approach the franchise’s significant milestone – its 20th anniversary in March.

According to Kris Anka, whom Grubb mentioned, they were tasked with producing an artwork depicting Odin for the upcoming God of War 20th Anniversary Event, scheduled for March.

Keep in mind that although Grubb’s statement suggests a possibility, Sony has not officially confirmed the release of this remaster compilation. Therefore, take it with a pinch of salt. However, if there indeed is a God of War 20th Anniversary Show, it would be an ideal platform to unveil such an announcement.

Should an announcement indeed occur, it wouldn’t be entirely unexpected given Sony’s recent focus on remasters, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Until Dawn, among others.

If we purchase the God of War Greek Collection, will it be a remaster or a remake? Will it include all the games that follow Kratos’ Greek storyline, or merely the primary series installments?

In total, there are six main God of War games linked to the Greek saga: God of War, God of War 2, God of War: Chains of Olympus (for PSP), God of War 3, God of War: Ghost of Sparta (also for PSP), and God of War: Ascension. While there is a mobile game called God of War: Betrayal, it’s unclear if Sony will consider it part of the main series.

The collection of Kratos’ Greek journeys, known as the God of War Collection, was released for the PS3 and Vita in 2009. Similarly, the God of War Origins Collection, which bundled the PSP games together on a single disc, came out in 2011.

Previously, God of War 3 Remastered, initially launched on PlayStation 4 in 2015, was the final installment of the Greek God of War series. Since then, Santa Monica Studio has revamped this game with a new Norse setting, and it received widespread acclaim when it came out.
