This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
Summary
- The God’s Knights in One Piece serve the Celestial Dragons and are descendants of noble families.
- Members of the God’s Knights possess incredible powers from Devil Fruits and Haki, making them formidable opponents.
- The God’s Knights are almost unbeatable as a unit, on par with Yonko strength; separating them is key to defeating them.
As a keen observer of the One Piece universe, I’ve noticed a significant shift in fan perspectives following the introduction of God’s Knights. Initially, many viewers shared the view that the World Government was outmatched when facing off against pirates and other lawbreakers. However, the appearance of these powerful knights has certainly challenged this assumption.
In the Egghead storyline, viewers witnessed the immense power of the Five Elders, each possessing abilities that were beyond extraordinary. Their appearance transformed Egghead Island into a chilling scene of numerous fallen bodies. To further enhance the World Government’s prestige, the creator Eiichiro Oda introduced the God’s Knights within the narrative.
Who Are The God’s Knights In One Piece?

As an onlooker, I’ve come across a powerful group known as the God’s Knights. These individuals are elite fighters who allegiance lies with the Celestial Dragons, wielding authority that surpasses even the Marines in Marijoa. This allows them to overrule any decisions made within their sphere of influence.
It appears these warriors trace their lineage back to the noble families that established the World Government. Consequently, they share the same ideologies as the Celestial Dragons. The God’s Knights harbor a strong belief in their superiority, sometimes going so far as to refer to themselves as ‘God.’ To them, ordinary people are insignificant, often regarded as mere insects with no inherent worth. In their eyes, human lives hold negligible value.
We are Gods. —Gunko
Beyond their annoying belief system, I can’t help but admire the sheer strength of the God’s Knights. Each and every one of them possesses extraordinary abilities that make short work of even the toughest criminals. What’s more, they are also proficient in using Haki, a skill that only adds to their formidable nature as adversaries.
So far, Eiichiro Oda has introduced five members of the God’s Knights. These are:
- Figarland Garling
- Figarland Shamrock
- Gunko
- Killingham
- Sommers
Initially, Figarland Garling led the God’s Knights as their top commander during his debut. However, following Saturn’s demise, he was elevated to one of the Five Elders, which subsequently placed him in command of the group. To clarify, this character named Figarland Shamrock is none other than Garling’s son and the identical twin brother of Shanks.
The Power Of The God’s Knights
They Are Armed With Extraordinary Abilities
As an onlooker, I marvel at the divine warriors, the God’s Knights, who are graced with extraordinary abilities. Each one appears to wield a potent Devil Fruit, capable of toppling entire armies single-handedly. Among them, there is Gunko, who bears the Aro Aro no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This artifact grants her the power to generate vectorial arrows. With this ability, she amplifies the strength of her attacks and even redirects incoming threats towards her adversaries. Moreover, Gunko’s powers extend to regeneration, allowing her to heal from various forms of harm.
In the Elbaf arc, Killingham joins the ranks of God’s Knights, having consumed a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that enables him to induce sleep in people and manifest their nightmares. The power of this fruit is staggering, as demonstrated by the chaos Killingham caused in Elbaf. He brought forth the fears of the children, and these spectral terrors were potent enough to overpower the Giants.
Similarly, Shepherd Sommers wields a formidable ability with his Iba Iba no Mi. This Devil Fruit allows him to conjure invisible, prickly vines that can ensnare anything they touch. Touching these thorns is agonizing for the unaware, inflicting excruciating pain.
Can The God’s Knights Be Beaten?

Collectively, the God’s Knights are incredibly tough opponents, with most, if not all, possessing power comparable to Yonko level pirates. Since viewers have witnessed the might of a Yonko, confronting three or four of these titans simultaneously is almost insurmountable. The wisest approach seems to be splitting them up and defeating them individually. The upcoming chapters of One Piece should provide fans with a clearer understanding of their capabilities.
