Gohan Beast VS Ultra Ego Vegeta: What is the Strongest Transformation in Dragon Ball Super?

Goku used to be the strongest character in Dragon Ball, but that’s no longer the case. Recent storylines in the manga and the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie have shown other characters surpassing him, even after he achieved mastery of Ultra Instinct. The power balance in Dragon Ball has shifted, and now Gohan and Vegeta are stronger than Goku, thanks to their new abilities.

Gohan Beast and Ultra Ego are incredibly powerful transformations in Dragon Ball Super, and it’s hard to say which one is stronger. In chapter 103 of Dragon Ball Super, Gohan in his Beast form battles several Super Saiyans, including Goku, Broly, and Vegeta. While Gohan Beast might be able to beat Goku when he’s mastered Perfected Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego Vegeta could prove to be a challenge even for Gohan’s strongest form.

Gohan & Vegeta Have Both Surpassed Goku

By the conclusion of the Dragon Ball Super manga, both Gohan and Vegeta become stronger than Goku. Vegeta achieves this first by unlocking Ultra Ego during the Granolah the Survivor Saga. Ultimately, Vegeta defeats Goku in a one-on-one fight using only their base forms, solidifying his superiority. Gohan also surpasses Goku in Dragon Ball Super when he unlocks his powerful Beast form while battling Cell Max.

In the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super, Gohan’s new ‘Beast’ form proves powerful enough to defeat Goku, even while Goku is using his perfected Ultra Instinct. Although Gohan’s power level is comparable to Goku and Vegeta’s, the story now shows Goku as the weakest of the three. Given that Goku needed to fuse with Vegeta to become Gogeta just to overcome Full Power Super Saiyan Broly, he’s currently the least powerful of the four main Saiyan characters when fighting alone.

Vegeta Didn’t Need to Use Ultra Ego to Fight Gohan Beast

A key reason Vegeta’s Ultra Ego form could win against Gohan Beast is that Vegeta didn’t need to use it during the Super Saiyan battle in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103. The purpose of Gohan’s fights in that chapter was to test the strength of his Beast form against other fighters. Gohan successfully fought and defeated both Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form and full-power Broly.

Vegeta chose to use his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved form instead of Ultra Ego, demonstrating his confidence and not underestimating Gohan. He believes Super Saiyan Blue Evolved is powerful enough to handle the fight. While Ultra Ego is stronger, Super Saiyan Blue Evolved is an incredibly potent version of the Super Saiyan Blue transformation. Although Gohan is suggested to be the victor, the outcome could have easily changed if Vegeta had opted to use Ultra Ego.

Vegeta’s Base Power Level is Higher Than Gohan’s, But Beast is a Better Form Than Ultra Ego

Initially, Vegeta was stronger than Gohan. However, Gohan’s Beast form gives him a much bigger power increase than Vegeta gets with Ultra Ego. Ultra Ego leveled Vegeta’s power up to match Goku’s mastered Ultra Instinct, but Beast made Gohan even more powerful than Goku in his perfected Ultra Instinct state. Unlike Ultra Ego, which has potential downsides, Beast simply makes Gohan stronger, faster, and more durable without any drawbacks.

Vegeta’s Ultra Ego form gets stronger as he fights and takes damage, but it also makes it difficult for him to know how much energy he has left. Every time he’s used it, he’s pushed himself to complete exhaustion and lost. Gohan Beast, on the other hand, hasn’t lost a single fight. While Ultra Ego Vegeta is tougher to defeat than Goku with Perfected Ultra Instinct, Gohan Beast can win by being patient, fighting strategically, and letting Vegeta wear himself out. This is probably why Vegeta switched to Super Saiyan Blue Evolved when fighting Gohan. Right now, Gohan Beast is clearly the strongest Saiyan.
