Gohan’s Beast Form vs. Vegeta’s Ultra Ego: The Ultimate Showdown

Summary

  • Vegeta unlocked Ultra Ego under Beerus, while Gohan unlocked his Beast form in Dragon Ball Super’s latest arc.
  • Ultra Instinct serves as a basis for comparing Gohan and Vegeta’s new forms, highlighting their strengths.
  • The current storyline in Dragon Ball Super promotes main Z-Fighters like Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Broly.

With Dragon Ball Super increasing the power scaling of the franchise to be far greater than it has ever been before, the main heroes have also become much stronger than they once were. Ever since Beerus and Whis came into the picture, they have had a huge role to play in the story, especially for the Z-Fighters, who have learned a lot from them in terms of combat and the pursuit of greater power.

Due to being under the tutelage of Beerus, Vegeta was able to unlock his incredibly powerful Ultra Ego transformation, which brought him up to the level of Goku’s Ultra Instinct. Moreover, in Dragon Ball Super’s Super Hero arc, Gohan found his own special power, which he called Beast Gohan, that made him similarly powerful, so let’s take a look at how Gohan and Vegeta’s new forms match up to one another.

Who’s The Strongest Out Of The Two?

The answer to the question of who would win between Vegeta and Gohan in their most powerful forms is a tricky one to answer, mostly because of the sparing appearances that both have had in the story so far. However, there is one common denominator between the two that allows such a comparison to happen. This is Goku’s Ultra Instinct, and it serves as a great way to gauge the strength of these transformations.

Although Ultra Instinct is generally considered to be the ultimate Martial Arts technique in the entire multiverse, Whis has revealed that there are degrees to its accuracy. While Goku’s Ultra Instinct form is by far his strongest, his level of mastery over the technique isn’t close to what the Angels are capable of, so, it can be overpowered by someone on a similar level of strength. This was seen in Chapter 103 of the manga, where Goku and Gohan finally sparred in their strongest forms.

It should be noted that the outcome of this fight essentially put both characters as equals in their strongest states. However, one notable moment in the brawl came when Gohan powered up immensely and punched Goku at blistering speeds that were fast enough to supersede Ultra Instinct’s autonomous dodging capabilities. This hurt Goku so badly that it sent him flying and even knocked him out of the Ultra Instinct state that he was in. This shows the sheer power of Gohan’s Beast form.

On the other hand, Ultra Ego was Vegeta’s answer to Goku’s Divine Transformation, since it manifested the inherent technique of the Gods of Destruction. Although he tried, Vegeta could never unlock the Angel’s technique due to being at complete odds with how it works, though later, he gained Ultra Ego as it suits him better. Even though it was only used once, Ultra Ego proved to do far better against Granolah than the mastered state of Goku’s Ultra Instinct, since the latter was taken out extremely quickly by Granolah while Vegeta pushed him to use his full power and almost kill them both.

A God of Destruction taught me that power derived solely from instinct is unbounded!

Many questions arose from this encounter. This is mostly because this was the first time the Saiyan Prince had ever used Ultra Ego, so he was completely inexperienced with it, which was clear with all of the form’s drawbacks. However, despite this, he managed to do better against Granolah than even Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku, which shows that this form is incredibly powerful, and when it is mastered, would set Vegeta apart even more.

With everything considered, it seems that Gohan Beast and Ultra Ego Vegeta are more evenly matched than previously believed. At the current stage, it seems that Dragon Ball Super is going in a direction that promotes the 5 main Z-Fighters as the central focus of the story, which would place Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Broly all on a relative level as one another.

So Who Would Win In The End?

The Answer To The Question

  • Beast Gohan is more refined as a transformation.
  • Ultra Ego may have better offensive capabilities but isn’t very sustainable in the long run.

If the two Saiyans were to ever fight in their strongest forms, the fight could honestly go either way. However, the more probable outcome is that Gohan Beast would win if we look at how things stand currently. Although it can be argued that both characters have around the same level of mastery over their techniques, Beast Gohan just seems to be far more refined than Ultra Ego, especially with what makes the latter unique. Ultra Ego’s gimmick of getting stronger with more and more damage taken simply isn’t sustainable in the long run.

From what has been shown so far, Ultra Ego’s offensive output is perhaps the greatest in the series, and that is what would allow Vegeta to win in some circumstances. However, once mastered, Ultra Ego could perhaps be the strongest of them all, since mastering the form would get rid of the drawbacks of taking damage to get stronger. Seeing how he was pretty much as strong as Mastered Ultra Instinct already, a mastered form would be even better.
