The popular manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen” concluded not too long ago, wrapping up a much-loved story for its dedicated followers worldwide. Despite the abrupt ending, which some found premature due to the author’s health concerns, Gege Akutami delivered a satisfying conclusion that left fans content. Now, our beloved creator is taking a well-deserved break and preparing to embark on his next manga project.
In the finale of JJK, many characters found happiness, but some viewers feel let down by the choices author Gege made towards the end. Indeed, the most powerful modern sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, left fans questioning whether the conclusion was satisfactory.
Gojo Met His End Vs Sukuna In Shinjuku Showdown

- Gojo Vs Sukuna Happened In Shinjuku
- Gojo Lost His Life In The Battle
In the anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen,” Gojo Satoru engaged in numerous thrilling battles, yet none were as eagerly awaited as his confrontation with Ryomen Sukuna, the Curse King. It was evident to fans that Gojo was an exceptional fighter due to his extraordinary skills. He earned the title of the strongest contemporary sorcerer, and he carried himself with unmatched self-assurance regarding his abilities. Gojo had long anticipated a showdown with Sukuna, and when it finally occurred, he was confident in his victory. After being released from the Prison Realm, Gojo prepared for battle against Sukuna, which took place shortly after a brief pause in the manga’s storyline.
Don’t get it wrong. You’re the challenger here. — Gojo Satoru
As a die-hard fan of JJK, I can’t contain my excitement when the Shinjuku Showdown arc kicked off! The prospect of witnessing the titanic clash between Gojo and Sukuna was too enticing to resist. These two heavyweights were not holding back, each determined to prove their superiority in this epic showdown.
The fight was a nail-biter, with neither side gaining a decisive edge for much of it. There were instances when Gojo seemed to have the upper hand, only for Sukuna to retaliate and seize control moments later. However, Gojo’s performance was nothing short of breathtaking throughout this battle.
What made this fight even more intriguing was that Sukuna wasn’t merely facing off against himself but also had access to Megumi’s technique. It’s been established in the story that Megumi’s ability is strong enough to challenge Gojo’s Limitless, and adding it to Sukuna’s arsenal made this confrontation all the more challenging for Gojo. To top it off, Sukuna had his own Shrine as well, which only complicated matters further.
Despite these formidable odds, Gojo held his ground remarkably well and managed to maintain the upper hand for extended periods of the battle. It was a testament to his skill, determination, and the depth of the storytelling in JJK that I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout this electrifying showdown!
Ultimately, it was Megumi’s Mahoraga that proved crucial, providing Sukuna with a blueprint to bypass Gojo’s Infinity and defeat him swiftly. This unexpected turn of events marked the demise of Gojo Satoru, a twist that left fans reeling. Although Gojo’s defeat could be rationalized, the manner of it was indeed startling. It seemed unfair that Gojo, who had ample power to overpower Sukuna, was beaten due to plot demands. Regrettably, the narrative required advancement, which necessitated Gojo’s loss in this particular battle. And so, it was in Shinjuku that we witnessed this unfold.
Gojo Never Got To Fulfil His Goals
Gojo Satoru’s Personal Goals Were Never Fulfilled By Him
Gojo’s confrontation with Sukuna significantly impacted his character, yet it didn’t have to be so. If the battle between Gojo and Sukuna had occurred when Gojo achieved his goals, fans might have been more accepting of his demise. However, Gojo never got to accomplish any of his dreams, such as restructuring the Jujutsu world, which remained unfulfilled for him. Although he laid the groundwork, it was primarily his students who carried out this task, and even then, it felt like a hurried resolution that author Gege didn’t explore much.
Seek a different kind of strength from me, Yuji. — Gojo
Beyond this, Gojo harbored a desire to arrange a funeral for Suguru following his burial, which unfortunately was not an option in the storyline. Essentially, Gojo yearned to honor his dearest friend with a fitting farewell as he journeyed into the afterlife. However, due to the sudden and untimely demise of his character that the narrative demanded, readers never got to witness this heartfelt goodbye.
To spectators, the struggle against Sukuna seemed oddly surreal, given that the King of Curses had significant aid during the battle and, ultimately, it was Gojo who truly stole the show with his astonishing abilities.
In a way that satisfies fans and allows Gojo to achieve all his objectives, manga author Gege Akutami seems to have missed the mark in developing Gojo’s character. However, it’s essential to note that this is not the whole story.
Gege Akutami appears to have failed in delivering a satisfying ending for fans and ensuring that all of Gojo’s goals are met, as it pertains to his character development. But let us clarify, this doesn’t cover everything.
What stood out the most about how Gojo’s demise was portrayed, was that no one seemed to fully acknowledge it, even though he was a significant figure in JJK. Characters like Tsumiki, who didn’t seem to contribute much to the story and were more of a plot device, had their own funeral, but the author failed to give proper recognition to Gojo Satoru’s death. Only Yuta seemed to show concern for him, and once the war was over, everyone just seemed to move on without giving it much thought. This choice by the author, not only to overlook Gojo’s passing but also to handle his character poorly, was undeniably tragic.
Gojo’s Will Still Lives On
Yuji Itadori Carries Gojo’s Will Now

Regardless of how fans might feel about Gojo’s demise, it appears that both Gojo and Jujutsu Kaisen have moved on, leaving behind a legacy that’s being upheld by none other than Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu. Prior to his passing, Gojo made it clear to Yuji that he should strive for a unique kind of strength rather than replicating his own, while also growing strong. Gojo showed unwavering confidence in Yuji, believing he wouldn’t let him down and that even in death, he’d become the strongest. What’s more, Gojo was aware that Yuji shared his vision for reshaping the world and would see it through to its completion.
Over time, Yuta assumed the role of interim leader within the Gojo Clan. He maintained this position for an extended period. Together, they embodied Gojo’s spirit, and in a chaotic finale, viewers were left with fond recollections of Gojo, thanks to these characters.

Should Jujutsu Kaisen carry on, fans can merely anticipate that Gojo’s influence on the series progression, as well as the existing characters, will be significant and impactful.
At long last, I found myself immersed in the thrilling climax of Jujutsu Kaisen, chapter 271, which dropped on September 29, 2024! If you’re a fan like me, don’t miss out on this exhilarating journey – catch up with the series on Manga Plus!
