The highly anticipated Game of the Year for 2025 has been awarded to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which also won nearly every other award it was up for. While Sandfall and Kepler were also incredibly successful, it’s important to recognize all the fantastic games released this year.

We provided a list of the official nominees, and also included an option for excellent games that didn’t quite make the top six. As expected, our readers’ predictions were remarkably accurate – and by a significant margin!

With the nominees announced and preparations complete, all that remained was to name the Game of the Year for 2025. As excitement for The Game Awards reached its peak, we asked the Game Revolution community for their predictions. Here’s how they voted for this year’s GOTY award.

Which Game Deserves to Win GOTY at The Game Awards 2025?

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 —46% / 301 votes.
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong — 15% / 99 votes.
  • Other (2025 game that wasn’t nominated) — 14% / 90 votes.
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II — 10% / 66 votes.
  • Death Stranding 2: On The Beach — 5% / 35 votes.
  • Donkey Kong Bananza — 5% / 34 votes.
  • Hades II — 5% / 32 votes.

Game Rant readers accurately predicted the Game of the Year winner, with nearly half of them voting for Clair Obscur. The game was a huge award winner and the developers showed their appreciation by releasing a surprise DLC for fans.

Australia’s Team Cherry took second place with Hollow Knight: Silksong, a highly anticipated game that generated so much excitement upon its release date announcement that it temporarily crashed many online stores. After seven years of development and eager waiting from fans, the game finally launched and exceeded all expectations.

Surprisingly, the third most popular game wasn’t even a nominee! Many excellent titles missed out on nominations, including hidden gems like Dispatch, Blue Prince, and PEAK, as well as major releases like Mario Kart World and Battlefield 6. The strong support these unnominated games received really highlights how high the overall quality of games was this year.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II finished third among the nominees, and the competition between Death Stranding 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hades II was very tight. Any of those four games could have easily won in other years, but Clair Obscur ultimately proved to be the strongest and achieved a historic victory.

The Game Awards have named their Game of the Year for 2025, but now it’s time for you to decide the real winner! Vote for the GR Community Game of the Year in the article below and let your voice be heard!
