As a die-hard racing enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel the adrenaline surging through my veins at the news of the latest update for Gran Turismo 7! The addition of five new cars, including a legendary F1 car and a hypercar concept, is like a dream come true. Plus, the updates to the Gran Turismo Sophy AI agent and events like the Jimny Cup and Porsche Cup are going to make my racing experience even more immersive and exciting!
Sony recently unveiled an upgrade for Gran Turismo 7 that includes more than just five fresh vehicles; it also brings along some exciting new features.
Ken Chan, Senior Product Manager at SIE, announced on the Official PlayStation Blog that update 1.54 for Gran Turismo introduces a burst of new cars, events, and challenges. This includes an update to the AI agent Gran Turismo Sophy for the iconic Trial Mountain Circuit and Tokyo Expressway – East Clockwise. Don’t forget to participate in the Gran Turismo World Series Celebration Race, which gives you the opportunity to experience the races that were part of this year’s grand final!
Onto the new cars, then:
- Ford Escort RS Cosworth ’92: A WRC homologation special with a unique double-decker wing design.
- Mercedes-Benz W 196 R ’55: A legendary F1 car that made motorsports history.
- Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) ’20: The top performance model of the eighth generation 911.
- Porsche Mission X ’23: A hypercar concept to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Porsche.
- Suzuki Jimny Sierra JC ’18: A chunkier Jimny with an eye on global success
Additionally, the Café now offers “Menu 42: Ferrari Speciale” for collectors at level 48 and above, and GT Auto has introduced a new wheel brand called Rotiform.
The following new events have been added to World Circuits:
- Jimny Cup – Grand Valley South
- Porsche Cup – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
- Race of Turbo Sportscars – Mount Panorama Circuit

The Grand Turismo World Series 2024 World Championship Final is set for December 7-8 in Amsterdam. This high-stakes event brings together the best drivers globally to crown this season’s champions. In anticipation of the grand event, we’re organizing a special Gran Turismo World Series Jubilee Race on November 21. During this race, players will have the opportunity to replicate the races from this year’s Grand Final at the World Finals.
Two exciting events will take place: The Manufacturers Cup, where automobile manufacturers battle it out against each other, and The Nations Cup, where drivers proudly represent their home countries or territories. Players have a chance to win up to 500,000 Cr. per event, with a grand total of 1,000,000 Cr. up for grabs. To join the events, simply navigate to the event panel located at the top right corner of your World Map screen during the competition period.
