Gray Zone Warfare Update 0.3 Patch Notes

As a fan, I’d usually look forward to a camping trip with the guys as a chance for some relaxation and camaraderie. But things take an unexpected turn when not one but two groups of mercenaries, a renegade military force, and bloodthirsty insurgents decide that you’re their next target. Now, I can’t help but wonder if this camping adventure has somehow morphed into a survival thriller!

In contrast to the grand announcement campaign that accompanied update 0.2, Night Ops, Madfinger Games opted for a stealthy approach known as a “shadow drop” and released version 0.3 of Gray Zone Warfare.

The recent update for this open-world survival shooter fundamentally alters the game. Instead of being a somewhat hostile tropical paradise where players would only encounter each other while rushing to the same pickup point when leaving, the Winds of War update converts the entire map into a chaotic, disputed battleground.

Apart from seeing more player versus player (PvP) encounters, gamers now need to strategize considering the changing weather conditions as well. This includes dealing with more frequent tropical storms and nights when visibility is almost non-existent.

Gray Zone Warfare Update 0.3 Winds of War Patch Notes

In brief, the Gray Zone Warfare Update 0.3, titled “Winds of War,” brings a host of modifications. It incorporates combat outposts, a weather system that changes over time, an assortment of new weapons such as the well-known Dragunov sniper rifle, and many other enhancements.

PvP Changes

In the latest Winds of War update, I must say, the enhancements made to player-versus-player (PvP) combat are nothing short of remarkable! Previously, locating PvP encounters felt like a game of whispered rumors and wishful thinking among faction members, with the response often being a disappointing “not much, if at all”. But now, engaging in intense battles seems not only possible but also excitingly imminent!

This new development introduces both small and significant combat outposts (COP) scattered across the island of Lamang, each guarded by troops from their respective factions. Capturing a COP involves defeating the current occupants and seizing control of its command center. This action triggers the arrival of friendly security forces and grants you access to merchants and your personal storage.

Attacking a hostile outpost or a group of enemy PMCs now triggers a PvP zone warning on the map.

At certain key locations, additional vendors are introduced, offering equipment of unique quality found on battlefields by soldiers who no longer require them. Don’t forget to clean it before using, if you wouldn’t mind.

As PvP combat becomes more frequent, friendly soldiers started wearing color-coded armbands to easily distinguish them during intense situations.

New Boomsticks

With every significant release since the launch of Gray Zone Warfare last year, update 0.3 brings a set of distinctive brand-new weaponry to the game.

This list encompasses the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), the Heckler & Koch MP7 submachine gun, the SIG MCX assault rifle chambered in .300 Blackout, as well as the Beretta M9A1 and Colt Combat Commander handguns.

By attaching the digital counterpart of AirTag to something you deeply care about, you’ll now be able to trace its location if someone else is using it temporarily.

In the context of Gray Zone Warfare, while smaller weapons provide a good amount of firepower, they are no match for the additional might that mortars brought into play with update 0.3.

It’s possible you’ve noticed those tubes scattered around your group’s primary headquarters earlier, but now they serve a purpose – enabling you to request artillery strikes on the battlefield, as long as you cover the cost of the ammunition.
