Grounded 2 Launches Arachnophobia Assault With Its First Major Patch

So, just in time for Halloween, Obsidian Entertainment dropped a huge update for Grounded 2. And let me tell you, it completely transforms the game into a proper horror experience – I *know* you guys are going to understand exactly what I mean!

The “Hairy and Scary Update” is now available! It introduces a terrifying new threat to Brookhollow Park: AXL, the Colossal Tarantula. This giant spider has eight legs, plenty of hair, and incredibly sharp fangs, making it a truly challenging nightmare.

Players can now face a completely new boss! Defeating it unlocks a collection of rewards inspired by tarantulas, including the Tarantula Armor set, a powerful Tarantula Bow, a formidable Tarantula Spear, and unique decorations to give your base a creepy atmosphere, like chests, candles, and even a candlelit throne.

However, beating this boss won’t be simple – the developers themselves are calling it a “towering terror”! So, it’s best to prepare thoroughly and maybe team up with some friends. You can see the massive spider and what you can earn by defeating it in the video below.

Patch Notes For Hairy and Scary 0.2 Update

In addition to the tarantula boss, the “Hairy and Scary Update” brought several new features and fixed bugs in Grounded 2.

The most significant updates are the new BUILD.M system, which simplifies creating elaborate designs with a more user-friendly placement and refinement system, and the Hot Pouch – a support feature that integrates with the Buggy. This means you no longer have to get out of the driver’s seat to scan items, switch them out, or restock! It’s great to see the developers listening to player feedback, as the Hot Pouch was actually a suggestion from the community.

The game now supports players in Japan and Brazil! We’ve added localizations in Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. As a Brazilian player, I’m especially excited about this update!

As a huge Halloween fan, I’m really digging the seasonal stuff they added! The Praying Mantis armor set looks awesome, and I’m excited about building a Trick-or-Treatery Building. The new spooky atmosphere is perfect, and it’s a fun change that Candy Corn is showing up instead of some of the usual resources. It’s cool that all of this is temporary and only available in October – it makes it feel special, you know?

We’ve just released a set of fixes – and we couldn’t resist a little bug-related humor! – addressing various issues, including sound effects, user interface elements, the camera, lighting, problems with characters reappearing, and improvements to handheld devices.

You can find the complete patch notes on the game’s official website. However, it’s a pretty long document, so you might want to get a coffee before you start reading everything.

Also, Obsidian has confirmed that this is just the start of special content for Grounded 2 in October, with more spooky surprises planned for the future.

You can play Grounded 2 through Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S, or in Early Access on Steam. Plus, it’s available as part of the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
