In the sequel to Grounded, you’ll find a more extensive exploratory wilderness with fresh locations to unearth, materials to gather, and pests to eliminate. Yet, if the game fails to meet your standards, it can swiftly become an unpleasant experience. Given that Grounded 2 debuted in early access, it’s important to understand that it may encounter optimization problems, leading to subpar performance on many PCs. This guide, however, will assist you in fine-tuning certain in-game settings to provide a playable experience until an update addressing performance issues is released.
Best Settings for Grounded 2 on PC
In the game Grounded 2, players have limited options when it comes to customizing graphical settings and optimizing performance. The ‘Display’ tab primarily offers some fundamental adjustments, along with a pre-set for visuals that dictates the overall game quality. Let’s explore optimal settings to boost performance instead.
Setting | Best Preset | Notes |
---|---|---|
Window Mode | Borderless Fullscreen | If you’re experiencing a loss of FPS due to Borderless Fullscreen, try switching to normal Fullscreen mode. |
Resolution | Native | – |
Render Scale | Depends on Resolution | 1080P: 80%, 1440P: 65%, 4k: 50% (will be explained later) |
Quality | Medium | There aren’t any graphics settings to tune here, so you’ll have to settle for an overall preset for now. |
Frame Rate Limit | 60 or 120 FPS | – |
Depth of Field | Personal Preference | It does not impact the overall performance much. |
V-Sync | Off | You can turn this on if you’ve capped your FPS at 60. |
Motion Blur | Off | – |
Chromatic Aberration | On | It does not impact the FPS, but adds an aesthetic filter to the visuals. |
Field of View | 80-90 | Increasing your FOV will impact Grounded 2’s overall performance. It’s best to keep the slider between 80 and 90 FOV for a smooth experience. |
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that when we reduce the Render Scale below 100%, the game doesn’t appear in its full resolution anymore, which boosts the frames per second (FPS). However, this might make the game a bit blurry. To combat this, I recommend diving into your AMD Radeon Settings or Nvidia Control Panel and cranking up the sharpness of your game to around 40-50%. This adjustment won’t affect the game’s performance but will help restore visual clarity, while also enhancing FPS.
The reason for this recommendation is because there are currently no options for enhancing the game’s graphics, such as Nvidia DLSS or AMD FSR, within the game at present. If these features are incorporated later on, you can increase your Render Scale to 100% again. For now, these settings and this workaround will allow players to play Grounded 2 smoothly, both indoors and outdoors, with a decent frame rate.
