Grounded 2 Toxic Tangle DLC All New Weapons & Crafting Guides

So, I’ve been diving into the Grounded 2: The Toxic Tangle DLC, and wow, there’s a ton of new stuff to craft! Basically, you take parts from the new bugs – like those super dangerous Earwigs and the big, tough Potato Beetles – and build some seriously cool weapons. If you’re like me and want to know everything about them, you’ve come to the right place – I’m going to break down all the new gear!

We’ve created a complete guide to all the new weapons included in the downloadable content. It details how to unlock the blueprints for crafting them, and explains the unique combat abilities they give to the junior rangers of Brookhollow Park.

All New Weapons in Grounded 2 Toxic Tangle Update

The recent Toxic Tangle Update to Grounded 2 includes some adjustments to combat, particularly how Mutations and Weapon Perks function. However, the update also introduces a wider variety of weapons, all with new and interesting designs and effects. Here’s a closer look at what’s new.

Black Ant Sword

  • Combo Damage: 40/40/50
  • Stun:5
  • Speed: Fast
  • Crit Chance: 5%

This is a more powerful version of the classic One-Handed Sword in Grounded 2, upgraded to Tier 3. It’s crafted from Black Ants instead of Red Ants, giving it a new color. You unlock it by researching a Black Ant Head dropped by Black Soldier Ants. While it’s a solid weapon, it doesn’t have any special abilities that make it stand out – unless you combine it with the Black Ant armor and shield for a complete, stylish look.

Cricket Lute Bow

  • Bow Damage Multiplier: 20%
  • Speed: Average
  • Crit Chance: 4%

This expansion’s best ranged weapon is likely this bow. It’s incredibly powerful and has a unique ability: hitting an enemy has a 35% chance to heal nearby players and Buggies. When used with the new Bardic Inspiration Mutation and Cricket Armor, it effectively transforms archers into combat medics in Grounded 2. Pretty awesome, right? You can unlock this bow’s blueprint by analyzing the Cricket Drumstick.

Discord

  • Bow Damage Multiplier: 20%
  • Speed: Average
  • Crit Chance: 5%

This special version of the Cricket Lute Bow is modified by the Mysterious Stranger and can be found on the rooftop of the O.G.R.R. Labs, in the southern corner. Unlike the original, which heals allies, this bow has a ‘Song of Discord’ perk. This perk causes critical hits to negatively affect enemies. Each critical hit has a 35% chance to reduce the enemy’s attack power by 15% for 10 seconds, or a 35% chance to slow their movement speed by 40% for 5 seconds. There’s also a 25% chance to stun the enemy for 8 damage over 2 seconds. It’s particularly effective against bosses.

Dusk Blades

  • Combo Damage: 39/39/54
  • Stun: 4
  • Speed: Fast
  • Crit Chance: 6%

These daggers are crafted from the pincers of Earwig bugs – you’ll need to study these bugs to learn how to make them. They’re quick and powerful, and at level 4, they unlock a special ability called Desperate Defense, which reduces damage taken when your health drops below 75%. They’re a solid weapon for many different character builds, so it’s worth trying them out. They’re especially effective against spiders.

Crimson Reapers

  • Combo Damage: 39/39/54
  • Stun: 4
  • Speed: Fast
  • Crit Chance: 5%

Okay, so I’ve been checking out the Crimson Reapers, and they’re basically an upgraded version of the Dusk Blades. They don’t hit critically as often as some other weapons, but they have this cool ability you unlock at level 4 called Desperate Criticals. It basically gives you a much better chance of landing a critical hit when you’re really low on health – like, 30% or less. It’s handy, but honestly, they’re not the best weapons out there. If you want to find them, you’ll need to scout around the Pumpkin surrounded by those Tang Pools – thankfully, you can clear those out with the Ladybug Buggy. You’ll also find them guarded by O.R.C. Black Ant Soldiers. The whole area is pretty close to the border of the Greenhouse, just south of the big fertilizer bag.

Acid Ruin

  • Combo Damage: 42/42/53
  • Stun: 1
  • Speed: Slow
  • Crit Chance: 3%

The new Mage Staff focuses on applying Sour Tang Buildup, a condition that weakens enemy armor, making even tough opponents easier to defeat. While magic-focused builds aren’t currently popular in Grounded 2, they’re very enjoyable. The staff’s final attack creates a splash of Tang goo that quickly applies this Sour Tang Buildup to enemies nearby. It can be

Wither Sting

  • Combo Damage: 42/42/53
  • Stun: 1
  • Speed: Slow
  • Crit Chance: 2%

This upgraded version of the Acid Ruin Staff has two useful abilities. It shares the same Tang Attack as the original, and also has Puckered Recovery, which significantly reduces an enemy’s healing by 50% for 10 seconds – but only if they’re already fully affected by Tang, which is easy to achieve with a few quick attacks. It’s a powerful weapon that both damages enemies and hinders their ability to heal, so what’s the downside? You’ll have to find it hidden inside a trash can in the Yard’s Fire Pit area, close to the park bench. And be careful – the area is now home to some challenging new bugs!

Boom Stick

  • Combo Damage: 55/55/69
  • Stun: 9
  • Speed: Slow
  • Crit Chance: 2%

The Boom Stick is a powerful upgrade to the Wallopeño weapon in Grounded. It deals a lot of both Smashin’ and Spicy damage, but its charged attack is what really makes it special. This attack creates a shockwave that hits all nearby creatures for 15 Spicy damage and builds up 15 Sizzle. Getting the Boom Stick isn’t easy, though – you’ll have to defeat an O.R.C. Wolf Spider boss to claim it. You can find the spider’s lair by exploring a tunnel network located beneath the Vegetable Basket in the garden (look for the entrance on the south-western corner of the wall). Good luck exploring!
