GTA 5 Actor Hints at GTA 6 Role and Mentions ‘2025, 2026’ Release Window

As a gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel like a kid on Christmas Eve upon hearing Johnny Ray Gill’s latest interview hinting at his involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6. Having been a part of the GTA V universe and Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s not hard to imagine him reprising his role or even stepping into something new in this highly-anticipated sequel.

Just the other day, I caught wind of an intriguing interview with Johnny Ray Gill, a seasoned actor known for his work in games like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. In this chat, posted on YouTube, he dropped some tantalizing hints about potentially reprising his role in… you guessed it… Grand Theft Auto 6!

During the interview, the American actor-producer shared details about his contributions during the production of GTA 5, and hinted at potential involvement in a new project set within the same universe, which might be released around 2025 or 2026.

It’s quite clear that he might be referring to Grand Theft Auto 6, considering his association with Rockstar Games and his previous involvement with Grand Theft Auto 5.

Slip of the Tongue

Ever since the unveiling of details for Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2022, following significant leaks, there’s been a tight seal around this upcoming title. Over 100 GB of content was clandestinely obtained from Rockstar Games, giving us glimpses into numerous aspects of the most eagerly awaited game in history.

Back in December 2023, Rockstar Games unveiled the debut trailer for GTA 6, shattering viewer records and sparking global excitement. To this day, that’s the sole trailer they’ve revealed so far.

Recently, I sat down for a chat with Check It TV (as reported by TweakTown), and although we started discussing my work on the popular TV show “Cross”, our conversation veered towards voice acting and the iconic game, Grand Theft Auto.

Gill said:

Back in my early days, I had the wild opportunity to be a part of Grand Theft Auto’s production. They strapped me with a headset, recorded my reactions, and guided me through various character voices – quite an exhilarating experience! Let me tell you, that was some unforgettable fun!

Keep a close eye for developments. While I’m unable to disclose details at the moment, an exciting event related to that realm is anticipated to unfold somewhere between 2025 and 2026, which I eagerly look forward to.

I mean, I don’t know! I don’t know! Stay tuned.

When the interviewer probed further, Gill said: ‘We will see, we will see…’

Due to the significant expansion of Gill’s fame following the release of GTA 5 in 2013, it’s possible that his role may become more substantial in future projects by Rockstar Games. However, we’ll have to wait and see how he makes an impact in their next major production.

At present, it appears the launch period for GTA 6 remains set for Fall 2025, with any reference to ‘2026’ possibly being speculative if Gill doesn’t have exclusive information.
