As a seasoned adventurer who’s spent countless hours in the underworld of Hades, I can confidently say that Bounce Back is hands down one of the best Dionysus boons you could ever wish for! This life-saving boon has been a game-changer for me, reducing the overall damage I take room by room and giving me a significant edge in my battles against those relentless minions of the underworld.
In the Olympic update for Hades 2’s Early Access, two additional deities from the original game have been introduced: Athena and Dionysus. Previously, Dionysus wasn’t the strongest God in Hades, but now that he functions as a Friendly NPC you can meet up in Olympus, his Boons have become significantly stronger and offer more diverse benefits compared to earlier versions.
In “Hades 2”, the top Dionysus boons are often those that are versatile across various character builds, or provide an effect that caters to multiple playstyles. Although he only provides a limited selection of six boons (similar to other characters you can encounter in both the underworld and the surface), you’ll discover that Dionysus’ boons are some of the most valuable boons in “Hades 2”.
6 Dancing Queen
One-Time Power Boost Every Ten Seconds
In each Encounter, Grape Juice appears in the area and grants Power when used.
Base Reappearance Time: 10 seconds
As a fan, I find that the dance-inducing gift from Dionysus can be quite potent in specific scenarios, particularly when wielding heavy, yet impactful weapons such as an axe. However, for the majority of builds, especially those favoring swift weapons in Hades 2, the effect simply doesn’t pack enough punch or consistency to outshine other superior Dionysus bonuses.
As a gamer, when I engage with a Grape Juice item, my next strike becomes incredibly potent, boosting its power by 100. On the surface, this seems incredibly powerful, but beware, as it tends to scatter around the room – making it tricky to grab in sprawling boss arenas. Furthermore, it may appear in places that are difficult or even impossible to reach, such as areas shrouded in Fire or precariously perched on top of traps.
5 Tipsy Shot
Great Burst Damage & Controllable Casts
Hold Cast to lob a large explosion. The binding circle forms there.
Base Cast Explosion Damage: 300
In the game “Hades 2”, Tipsy Shot is an outstanding Dionysus boon to acquire due to its high damage potential and the ability to determine where your projectile lands. After targeting your Cast, it will automatically inflict a standard 300 Explosive Damage and generate a Confinement Zone.
As a fan, I’d say: This particular Dionysus boon works great for every cast you throw, and it can be truly spectacular when combined with other cast-enhancing boons and chaos effects. However, in more general scenarios, there are other Dionysus boon options that might serve you better. And if you’ve already got Hestia’s cast boon, the ability to control your casts may not offer anything new to your build.
4 Worry Free
Enormous Max Health Gain, But At A Cost
Gain Max Health, but how much you have becomes a mystery.
Base Max Health Gain: 80
As a gamer, one of Dionysus’ most beneficial blessings is the “Worry Free” boon. This perk grants Melinoë an immense Health bonus in a single instance, but afterward conceals her total Health from my user interface. By choosing this boon, I relinquish knowledge about my character’s current status, but due to the substantial enhancement, it becomes less of a worry than it otherwise might be.
Generally, in many constructions and scenarios, you tend to focus less on your Health meter as combat intensifies. In fact, neglecting it could potentially enhance your gameplay by making you more cautious. If it’s not there to divert your attention, that is.
3 Happy Haze
Huge Damage Bonus While Standing In Fog
In every 8-second interval during an encounter, a celebratory mist called Festive Fog materializes, boosting your strength as long as you remain within it. This enchanting fog also momentarily stuns enemies.
Base Fog Damage Bonus: 30%
“What sets Happy Haze apart as one of the top Dionysus boons in Hades 2 is that its damage bonus encompasses all your outgoing attacks. Unlike Tipsy Shot, which boosts only your cast damage, or Dancing Queen, which increases damage on a per-use basis, Happy Haze offers a character-wide damage bonus when you’re within the Fog clouds.
This Boon is worth a 30% bonus only when you’re amidst foggy conditions, so consider choosing it if your character excels at long-range attacks. Avoid picking this up if your build focuses on melee combat, as you’ll need to track down each fog location for the buff, which could place you in risky zones such as trap areas or enemy attack zones.
2 Drunken Stupor
Omega Moves Inflict Hangover For Damage Over Time
Your Omega Moves inflict Hangover the first time they strike foes.
Base Hangover Damage: 50, every 0.5 sec for 4 sec (400 damage)
In the sequel to Hades, titled Hades 2, the reoccurring phenomenon known as “The Hangover” is featured within the Drunken Stupor boon granted by Dionysus. This boon is highly favored due to its potential for repeated heavy damage. However, it’s significantly less potent in character builds that don’t focus on Omega abilities.
With builds that feature Omega abilities, such as the Aspect of Pan or the Black Coat loaded with Special enhancements, this one Boon allows you to deal up to 400 damage over a span of 4 seconds to the initial enemy struck by each Omega attack. This ability swiftly dispatches both bosses and Guardians, making it an ideal selection if you’re exploring Omega abilities within your build’s strategy.
If you don’t incorporate any form of Magick into your gameplay, or aren’t heavily reliant on the “Omega moves,” you might not experience as significant an enhancement from this reward. (as a fan, I would say: If you skip the magic and Omega moves, this bonus may not boost your power level as much)
1 Bounce Back
Minimum 50% Health Restoration After Every Encounter
After each Encounter, restore some Health if you took any damage in that Encounter.
Base Health Restoration: 50% of Life lost
Regardless of your circumstances or physique, the capacity to recover Health is an incredibly valuable skill during any run in Hades 2. The skill known as Bounce Back stands out as one of the most effective methods for regaining Health in Hades 2, and it’s not just one of the best abilities associated with Dionysus, but arguably one of the top boons in the game. This is because it significantly reduces damage by a minimum of 50% from room to room.
This ability restores half of your total health after every battle, as long as you manage to survive. For instance, if your health is 200 and you get injured in a fight, you might end up with just 1 point left. However, if you come out victorious, your health will jump back up to its original level of 100. Keep in mind that it doesn’t lessen the damage taken during the encounter, and it won’t replenish any lost shields. Nevertheless, it’s tough not to appreciate such a robust method for recovering lost health compared to other boons that may only provide benefits in specific situations.
