Some players are expressing disappointment with the recently added ending to *Hades 2*, criticizing both the idea itself and how it was implemented. This negative reaction is notable because the game has otherwise been very well-received and is selling strongly.
So, I’ve been playing *Hades 2* since it was in early access back in May, and it was awesome, but it felt like something was missing. Finally, with the official 1.0 release on September 25th, they added the *real* ending! It totally completes the game and it’s everything I was hoping for.
Hades 2 ending spoilers ahead.
Why Some Players Are Complaining About Hades 2 Ending
Just three days after its release, dedicated players who had early access to *Hades 2* have already discovered the game’s true ending, but many aren’t happy with how the story concludes. One player, Reddit user Shonkshonkshonk, wrote a detailed post (reported by TheGamer) explaining that the ending feels underwhelming, mainly because the character Chronos’s change of heart happens too quickly to feel meaningful.
On Reddit, some players expressed disappointment with the ending of *Hades 2*. User Smokeysteak1150 felt it didn’t make sense for a Greek god to be motivated by wanting to be a grandfather, finding that explanation for his change of heart unconvincing. Another player, Lilwizerd, was frustrated that the game’s final moments revolved around Melinoë forgiving Chronos after only a short conversation, which they found deeply unsatisfying.
Around the end of September 2025, a small number of players began sharing similar complaints online. Some specifically criticized the explanation for what happens after finishing the main game, finding it confusing. While *Hades 2* had already sold an estimated 2 million copies on Steam, these complaints seemed to come from a relatively small group of players. Interestingly, as of September 28th, very few players had actually reached the game’s true ending – Steam data showed only 0.1% of those who started *Hades 2* on PC had unlocked the achievement for reaching the epilogue.
Hades 2 Unlikely To Receive More Story Content
As a huge fan of *Hades*, I remember it didn’t get any big new content updates after it fully launched in September 2020 – the patches were mostly about fixing bugs and tweaking gameplay balance. Now that *Hades II* is out of early access, I’m expecting a similar pattern. That probably means we shouldn’t hold our breath for major story changes or fixes to things fans have been asking about, which is a little disappointing, but understandable.
