Hades 2 Releases Patch Notes for First Post-Launch Update

After a much-anticipated release, Hades 2 has received its initial update since launching. This update addresses bugs and refines gameplay, even making changes to a boss fight that sparked some debate. Like the original Hades, Hades 2 was available in Early Access for a significant period. Supergiant Games gradually developed the game, incorporating updates and listening to player feedback along the way.

It feels like all that hard work and patience really paid off! Hades 2 is already a massive success for the team. Honestly, after how many awards and how well the first Hades did, I wasn’t *totally* surprised. But let’s be real, making a sequel to a game *that* big is tough. The fact that Hades 2 is off to such a strong start, even though it’s not on every platform yet, is awesome. And the best part? Supergiant isn’t stopping now – they’re still working on making the game even better for us players!

Please be aware that this update may contain spoilers for some bosses and items in the game. On September 30th, Supergiant Games released a quick update, known as Hotfix 1, for Hades 2. Though smaller than the large Day One update for Hades 2, this hotfix addresses several important bugs that players have been experiencing. These issues included achievements not being awarded, interactions not working properly, and strange behavior from characters – for example, Hecuba was seen repeatedly running back and forth with Narcissus.

One of the key improvements in this update addresses the Hades 2 mini-boss, Phantom. Players have found fighting Phantom in the Fields of Mourning to be difficult, as it teleports and attacks from a distance while having a lot of health. Previously, even players who relied on summoning allies discovered that Phantom could drain their health, making those allies ineffective. Fortunately, this appears to have been an error, and the update now prevents Phantom from draining the health of summoned allies.

While Hades 2 is off to a great start on PC and Nintendo Switch, players will also be able to buy a physical copy in November. The game is also planned to be released on Xbox and PlayStation at a later date. Regarding the future of the series, Supergiant Games has acknowledged fan requests for a new installment. However, despite the current game’s success, Hades 3 isn’t confirmed. The studio prefers to focus on one project at a time, developing, testing, and refining it through a continuous process.
