Handmade Final Fantasy Cosplay Combines Aerith and Garnet

As a huge Final Fantasy fan, I was blown away by this incredible cosplay I saw online! Someone brilliantly combined Aerith from Final Fantasy 7 and Princess Garnet from Final Fantasy 9 into one amazing character. They even explained where they drew the inspiration for the design, and it’s just so creative and well-thought-out. I had to share it because it’s a perfect blend of two of my favorite characters!

Aerith and Garnet both play vital supporting roles in their Final Fantasy games. While both are skilled as White Mages, Garnet also functions as a Summoner, able to call on powerful creatures called Eidolons during fights. Aerith, on the other hand, uses Materia to be more adaptable, allowing her to both attack from a distance and protect her allies. Aerith’s special attacks, like Breath of Wind, focus on healing, while Garnet uses Trance to significantly enhance her magical abilities.

Final Fantasy Fan Combines The Attire of Aerith and Garnet Into A New Cosplay

A fan cleverly combined the designs of two beloved characters from the Final Fantasy series in a unique cosplay. Reddit user Lanaluuv shared their creation on the Final Fantasy subreddit, reimagining Aerith in Garnet’s color scheme. They took Garnet’s signature orange and white outfit and red boots and applied them to Aerith’s classic pink dress, swapping her red jacket for an orange corset. Aerith’s black boots were also recolored red to match Garnet’s, and she traded her rod for Garnet’s staff, complete with a red and white ornament. The cosplayer kept Aerith’s long brown hair, even though Garnet has two different hairstyles in Final Fantasy 9.

Lanaluuv explained that her Aerith cosplay, featuring a garnet-colored design, was inspired by the mobile and PC game Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis. She specifically mentioned a crossover event with Final Fantasy 9 from late 2023 as a key influence. Himikosplay created and 3D-printed Garnet’s staff, while Lanaluuv personally crafted Aerith’s outfit.

The Fate of The Final Fantasy 9 Remake

A remake of Final Fantasy 9 was reportedly in the works after a leak in 2021, but it appears to be facing significant challenges. Industry insider NateTheHate revealed in October 2025 that the project had been put on hold, without explaining the reason. Currently, Square Enix hasn’t officially confirmed whether the FF9 remake is still being developed, leaving its future uncertain.

Fans of Final Fantasy 9 will find nods to the classic PlayStation game within Final Fantasy 14‘s Dawntrail expansion. The ongoing story includes references to FF9, including a character inspired by Garnet, with Queen Sphene of Alexandria taking on a similar role.

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Aerith experiences a fate mirroring the original game’s shocking turn – seemingly being killed by Sephiroth while still somehow present to Cloud. This leaves many unanswered questions about what will ultimately happen to her in the final Final Fantasy 7 Remake game. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has suggested the next game’s ending could be satisfying, so it remains to be seen if Square Enix can deliver on that promise.
