Hey there! Let me lay it all out for you. As a gamer myself, I gotta say Sonic Generations isn’t the toughest when it comes to nabbing those elusive S ranks – not compared to the rest of the series anyway. Shadow Generations, on the other hand, has a handful that really test your skills.

To put it simply, Using Your Collective Strength, the S rank for this task offers a good balance of enjoyment and difficulty, so you may need to try it a couple of times before mastering it.

Considering that the challenge involves mastering all three elemental shields, it seems appropriate that it’s not easy. However, in my opinion, it ought to be more difficult than it currently is.

9 Egg Dragoon (Hard)

Among the numerous challenging boss battles I’ve encountered, none stand out quite like the Egg Dragoon. This unique foe undergoes significant transformations that are hard to miss.

During the open phase, there’s a fresh assault with strategically placed spikes making it tougher to glide along the rails, and it may require additional impacts to be affected.

Well, since Sonic Generations is known for being quite liberal with its S rank conditions, all you’ve got to do is defeat the boss without getting hit, and voila! You’ll snag that elusive S rank in no time.

It’s not excessively challenging, as it lacks instant deaths and difficult platform navigation. However, its requirement for precision in certain sections could make it a tough nut to crack for some players.

8 Aim and Fire with Chaos Spear! (Hard)

Up next is a challenge I’d categorize as moderately difficult. This task involves traversing rails, evading adversaries, and launching multiple Chaos Spears towards objectives.

Multitasking at this intensity can strain your brain significantly, and you’re expected to perform these tasks quickly, much like the consistent speed demanded in playing Sonic games.

You have some flexibility with time, so unless you’re opting for leisurely travel on the tracks, you should be able to master it within a few attempts. However, it’s still thrilling to race through this level, though it might not be essential to apply every optimization under the sun.

7 Beware of Spinning Spikes! (Hard)

If you enjoyed playing Sonic Forces and found yourself yearning for the quirky, cluttered atmosphere of Sunset Heights from Shadow Generations, then this stage should satisfy your longing.

It features numerous rotating spikes, tricky-to-avoid barriers, and some adversary positions that force you into taking unwarranted gambles.

It’s actually quite a clever design, offering a challenging gameplay experience as you must dodge all the spikes while collecting only a limited number of rings.

In other words, you’ll need to decide if you prefer additional time or extra lives, as it’s your choice whether you prioritize progress (rank) or longevity (survivability).

6 Perfect Chaos (Hard)

Unlike many other tough bosses found in Sonic Generations, Perfect Chaos offers a fair test of skill. This involves navigating along narrow strips of road, where a minor mistake could lead to an immediate game over.

Typically, there are numerous opportunities to correct mistakes, making death unlikely. However, to achieve an S rank, all tasks must be completed successfully in a single attempt.

Indeed, while Sonic Generations provides an enjoyable experience, it does tend to award S ranks automatically upon completion of levels. Consequently, the main challenge lies in avoiding failure or perishing, offering only this aspect for players to master.

This is the only boss that is genuinely hard to do, so it earns its spot on this list, at least.

5 Vector: Pick Up the Beat

On the list, the last Sonic Generations game, fortunately free from erasing your save data, is quite challenging, infamously known as “The Stupid Vector Mission.

In this scenario, you’re playing a musical note ping-pong with the crocodile, and it can become quite lively and demanding.

To achieve an S rank, it’s crucial that you position yourself precisely next to Vector and predict accurately the direction of every note he plays.

This transforms into a challenging and uncomfortable exercise in rote memory, as the application can be tough, thanks to the finicky homing attack. Despite being generally unfair, it manages to secure its place at this level.

4 Mephiles (Hard)

Getting Tilted at the Towers

Since Sonic frequently achieves top grades (S ranks) effortlessly, due to being perceived as a fraud, Shadow must enforce stringent ranking conditions on every boss battle he encounters.

To put it simply, fighting Mephiles in hard mode is relatively straightforward compared to the other battles. Primarily, it requires you to complete the entire fight without taking a single hit to achieve the prestigious S-Rank.

Achieving this task is quite challenging because a single clone, massive strike, or unexpected shockwave could abruptly halt your progress.

As a tip, remember to mash the attack button until he teleports 3 times, then go for the doom blast, to eke out just a little bit more damage before each attack. After that, just don’t mess up too badly for the S.

3 Chaos Control Master (Hard)

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but ponder over the conundrum that leaves me scratching my head – why is a brief stage more challenging than the penultimate boss fight in the game? It’s indeed a puzzling predicament and I find myself at a loss for an answer.

In this challenge, you’ll navigate part of the second act of Rail Canyon while the entire level is collapsing around you. To earn an S rank, you’ll have to masterfully employ the Chaos Control ability.

This standard is quite stringent. My top-notch effort, where I executed everything flawlessly, still fell short by roughly five seconds of meeting it.

This task is not just enjoyable but also quite a thrilling test. Due to its brief span and the exciting Emerald Chaos tricks, you won’t hesitate to keep attempting it until you master it perfectly.

2 Biolizard (Hard)

Never Lose Your Confidence

Although minor adjustments like reducing the number of rings given and increasing the number of attacks didn’t significantly alter the gameplay, they nevertheless made the Biolizard extremely challenging to defeat, earning it a tough S rank in this specific form.

This boss fight asks you to play perfectly to get that shiny rank, and it’s quite the doozy.

Initially, respond swiftly to each assault as any reverberation could be fatal, and

It’s manageable, sure, but one slip-up means you’re not getting that rank, so I hope you like restarting for the perfect run.

1 Metal Overlord (Hard)

Simple Curiosity.

As a seasoned gamer, I can confidently say that achieving an S rank in Metal Overlord is no easy feat, rivaling even the challenges posed by Sonic Unleashed. This game demands near-perfection, so if you’re up for a thrilling ride, get ready to master the art of Doom Surfing!

In addition to the challenging mode featuring numerous barriers in the arena and providing an extensive health pool, achieving an S rank is incredibly demanding, leaving little room for anything less than optimal gameplay.

My only real tips and tricks are to constantly hit back any piece you see in the water, make sure to land every hit possible using rainbow rings or Chaos Control, and avoid getting hit.

Apart from obtaining a quality S, there’s little else you can do, as achieving it presents the greatest hurdle this package encounters.
